NYC teachers
I am a nyc public school teacher and I have a huge problem. The baby was born end of August and according to GHI the baby would be covered under me for the first 30 days until they city received the paperwork and all. However 2 months later and I am receiving deliquency notices from the hospital and my ped keeps calling me. Not only did they not update the baby but he was only covered for 3 days! My payroll secretary contacted the city and they said they are so busy that they have not been able to get to it. Is anyone else having this problem. I have a newborn with the no inscurance and I am very stressed out about it. He is scheduled for shots Sat and I don't think the doctor will accept us.

Re: NYC teachers
The exact same thing happened to me. Jared was born in June and was only covered for the first 30 days. Then at my pediatrician's office, they tell me that they're going to have to bill me because he's no longer under any insurance. I also got 2000 dollar hospital bills for my epidural! I called up human resources at my old job and told them they have to put Jared on for the remainder of my employment...Sept. 1st. They did that and contacted my old insurance...everything was taken care of...
What a headache!

Re: NYC teachers
I'm not an NYC teacher but we had a problem with our insurance when the baby was born. I explained it to the ped's office and they were very understanding. They said it happens all the time, and they just waited until it was all straightened out (like 2 months or so) to submit any claims, but still saw Sarah in the meantime.
