Nutrisweet

So, it's one of my DR. recommended restrictions.
And I am a chronic diet food eater.
So- no more diet soda, diet OJ, etc.
But fat free ice cream or frozen yogurt?
Will 1 cup of fat free ice cream be that bad? Each day?

The restriction is to "limit" or "avoid".

There are plenty of fat free and low fat ice creams that do not use artificial sweetners - you just have to read the labels - I know the hagaan daz low fat and fat free fro yos don't use them and the stonyfield farm ones.

Re: Nutrisweet

is it really that bad that I should worry about the carvel thinny thin I had last week?
Now I'm nervous.
ETA- my Dr. was adamantly anti cold cuts, certain cheeses, etc. But the nutrasweet thing was just random in the literature.

Re: Nutrisweet

Splenda is fine so look for products that use that.

Re: Nutrisweet

usually fat free ice cream has real sugar in it...

its only those ice creams labeled sugar free that have artificial sweetners like splenda (sucralose)...you have to check the labels

and some dr's say splenda is OK, others say don't eat it/chance it b/c there is not enough studies done on it

Re: Nutrisweet

To me, limiting means having it like once a week, not every day. I know it's hard - I was a big diet soda drinker, but like all of these things we're told to avoid, it just isn't worth the risk for me. I even avoid Splenda, because it's still an artificial sweetener.

Re: Nutrisweet

I was also a big diet food person prior to being preggo. Mr dr. told me NO artificial sweetners are safe during pregnancy so for 9 months I will do without them. To me, it isnt worth harming my baby. I can deal with not having it or using real sugar for 9 months.

Re: Nutrisweet

personally, I avoided artifical sweetners as much as possible. IMO, not enough is known about them - I would rather ingest the sugar right now, than the chemicals.
