Nursing and Supplementing Question
I nurse DS twice a day now - he is 10 weeks. In the afternoon he tends to need more to eat then what I can supply. I'm trying to build up my suppply but do you think its confusing for him if I give him a small bottle of Forumla first and then nurse him? In the past I've given him the bottle after nursing, but he's back into the habit of falling asleep after nursing and then I don't get to give him that bottle and he's hungry as soon as he wakes up.

Re: Nursing and Supplementing Question
Confuse him, probably not, but it still would be more effective to nurse then bottle...because then he takes what he wants AFTER he's finished getting what he can from the breast. Also, I found that DS spit up more with formula, so putting him in a nursing position afterwards may make him spit up. Letting him empty your breast first will help your supply. If he falls asleep, either try to rouse him with a diaper change or feed him a bottle after a short nap. DS was always hungry after he woke up...bottle or breast.
