Nursery Furniture

This is a xpost from the FHF board!

Where did you get your nursery furniture? What brand? which pieces? And would you recommend it ?

Lots of questions I know! lol But I have cribs on the brain after a weekend of furnuiture shopping!!

For the BTDT mommies--we are thinking of going with the whole cradle to college theme... anyone buy the convertible stuff and wish they hadnt or vice versa?

Thanks so much ladies!!

ETA: GEnder neutral mommies-- did you order a "neutral crib" or did you wait until after you had the baby to order?

Re: Nursery Furniture

we just ordered ours yesterday from Behr's. we chose a set by Baby's Dreams which comes highly recommended by the book Baby Bargains. we also felt that the quality was among the best we had seen of all the brands.

we got the crib (converts to toddler and twin), conversion kit, changer, tall dresser and nightstand.

Behr's was a pleasure to work with and we got several discounts (10% off everything plus an extra $110 off).

Re: Nursery Furniture

We loved a lot of things at Behrs but in the end we decided to go the low budget route & get it from Bob's. We purchased a tall dresser, dresser with mirror & an end table. We went with the Graco Charleston crib & changing table that matched the bob's furniture. The crib is convertible but it was cheap enough that if we don't keep it forever, I won't be upset.

I think it's the Infinity set in Espresso. But honestly, I really liked a lot of their sets. It was DH that made the final decision because I was torn.

We got 10% off (not sure if they are still running that discount, you should call and ask - we only went yesterday). The $100 off was for purchasing the crib, 2 dressers and the mattress. And they give everyone $10 off for gas. The last 2 are coupons on their website but I didn't even bring them with me and they automatically gave it to me anyway.

With my first i went with the really nice convertible set from BBB. it is westwood and rated highly. He is 22 months and still in the crib - he did not bite the crib but there are a few marks in what would be the footboard to a full size bed from him banging toys or books on the crib

with our twins we decided that we would go low end but decent quality. I do not need cribs that convert to full because if they share a room it will probably be bunk beds - i got a set from walmart for $250 includes, crib, dresser and changing table. It is sturdy not super polished but does the job. I picked white because it went with the decor i picked and the color of the walls. This time i have everything set up ahead of time

for my son - i was gender neutral - i ordered the crib before he was born but we took delivery when he was 3 months old - but that was because we were moving out of our house for construction so i did not want to move a crib that was not necessary yet - i like dark wood so his set is dark wood

from a btdt - you just don't know where life is going to take you and a few years down the line now i have a lot of trouble committing to a set from birth to college

also be aaware a lot of kids chew the crib and that ruins the foot board of the full size bes

We got our set from Bellini. We've had it for 3.5 years. It's on its second baby right now, about to go to the 3rd.

I have a drop side crib which they don't sell anymore. But we've been REALLY happy with the furniture. It's made really well.

Re: Nursery Furniture

We went to BBB with our 20% off coupons!

I had checked out Behr's but it was several hundred $$ more expensive, only 10% off, and the wood felt thicker/sturdier on the BBB pieces.

We don't expect any furniture to last for 18 years, but 10 would be nice!
