Nursery
How big is or will your nursery be?
We have to add the nursery and have a few options for where it can go but the sizes will be different depending on where it goes. I don't want to make it too small.
TIA!

Re: Nursery
Ours is 11x8. It's a perfect size for a nursery but I would definetly make it bigger if I could!

Re: Nursery
Ours is small. Approx 10 x 10 but everything fits. It's just snug. Pics in my album.

Christina when our time comes we are using the spare room, used to be DS room. Its an ok size it'll fit crib, glider, dresser and we may have to put a small desk in there.

Re: Nursery
we are using one of the 2 upstairs bedrooms in our cape, so it's a pretty large room, but with angled ceilings so it feels a little smaller. no idea what the dimensions are.

Re: Nursery
ours is basically 10x10 also...might be a few inches longer each direction, but not much...
ideally I'd like bigger too, but it is what it is right?
we'll have the crib, a full dresser and hutch, a nightstand, rocker/glider, and there should be room on the wall for a toybox down the line as well

Re: Nursery
No definitely can't just make it nay size we want. We live in the downstairs apartment of my parents house and there are 2 areas in our aparmtent that can accomodate an extra bedroom. One is expanding on a storage room that isn't used. This room would be 7 feet wide by 12 feet long and have a window but no closet.
The other option would be 10x10. One wall has a closet with sliding doors that is the entire wall. Another wall will have a door into the boiler room and yet another wall would have tp have the door to the room. So basically only one wall that was completely open.
Right now I'm leaning towards the one with the window just bc of being able to have an air conditioner in the room and not always having to have the door open in the summer so the air from the rest of the aprtment cools in there too.
I just don't want to pick the wrong space. We're going to be here for about 3 more years before we can afford a house so I don't want to be living with the wrong choice for 3 years.
Thanks for listening to me ramble

Re: Nursery
I don't know how the laws are in NY buy I'm pretty sure in MI if you are making a room into a bedroom you have to have a window. I could be wrong and maybe that's just for basement rooms, but I would check.

Re: Nursery
For safety reasons I would pick the space with a window. I also wouldn't put an air conditioner in it if it is the only window in the room.
BTW-It is code that every bedroom has a certain percentage of "egress." We just built a home and new code have even changed increasing the percentage amount. The windows in our bedrooms are huge for this reason. Even our basement windows are large by code, which I like because they let in a ton of light.

Re: Nursery
Ours is 10'8" X 11'2" and I feel it is a really nice size. We have a crib, short dresser, tall dresser and glider and it is still roomy

Re: Nursery
Thanks for all the info ladies! I didn't know about the law with the window so it looks like we'll be going with the room with the window. And we planned on using one of those portable ac's anyway (where you just have the tube that runs to the window when your using it) so the window wouldn't be blocked anyway.
Thanks again!

i personally would do the window room for more wall space and a window. I have a decent size room for Kassidy, but 3 of the walls have doors (including french doors that lead into my bedroom so that takes up the entire wall; the other 2 doors are entrance doors each on one wall) and it makes it hard to arrange furniture.
