Numb Hands???

Okay, is this normal? About a few hours before i get up I wake up with either one or both my hands tingling. Now they are getting to the point of being asleep. I put them in al different positions, but it comes back so i have to get up. Plus my fingers are incredible swollen in teh morning but it seems to go away as the day goes on.

This morning one of my hands is horrible. I am having problems even feeling anything.

Anyone else get this? Should i call my doctor?

Re: Numb Hands???

I would call your doctor, but it could be carpel tunnel. Some women get it really bad during pregnancy. Make sure that you are sleeping with your arms no higher than your shoulders. I have really bad carpel tunnel even when I'm not pregnant, and it always makes it worse when I sleep with my arms extended above my head. Good luck!Chat Icon

I have been noticing numbness too just recently. If I raise my arm at all I end up with numbness and/or pin and needles. Definitely when I wake up too. I didn't think it was anything serious. But mine goes away right away. I don't have the swelling you described though.

I had the same problem and it did go away after Christopher was born. Haven't experienced it yet with baby #2.

Re: Numb Hands???

I had numbness too during my pregnancy. I would wear one of those ace bandage like wrist gurards to keep my wrist straight at night. It was hard to get used to at first but it really helped.

Ditto.... I had this towards the end of my pregnancy and wore a brace to keep my hand straight. I don't have it as bad now- meaning that i comes and goes but definitely not how it was when i was pregnance.

same here. Some mornings it wakes me up early - sometimes one hand, other times both. I'm assuming it has to do with how I sleep. I only have numbness, no swelling.
