I delivered at NSUH back in 2004 so I am quite sure things have changed since. At that time after delivery they would send the babies to the nursery for 4 hours for observation.
For those that have delivered there recently do they still do that or does your baby stay with you from the moment of delivery onward? I know if your baby has to go to the NICU that may change things, but I'm having a csection this summer and defintely don't want that separation .
TIA

I had DD there at the end of 2013 and she was with us for a few hours after I delivered before they took her to get cleaned up and for observation. She was back with us before I even got admitted into my room.

I delivered 2 years ago there. The baby stayed with me for an hour or two so that I can do skin to skin, etc. Then they brought the baby to the nursery for an hour or so. The baby was back to my room once I got settled.

Re: NSUH Manhasset
I had a c-section there this past August. Besides for the 30-45 minutes when the doctor had to stitch me up, baby was with me the entire time. When they were stitching me up, DS and my husband were together. Then we all went to recovery together also - they did take him for a tiny bit until we went into our room I don't remember for what - cleaning him up, etc. And then was basically with us. They offered if he wanted to go into nursery but we kept him in room overnight.

I just delivered there in January. I kept DS with me until I was admitted into my room. They took him to clean him up and check him over. He was back to me in less than 30 minutes.

When I was in recovery, they took dd for about an hour to bathe her and do whatever they needed to do.
