NS Manhasset question

Hi ladies!

Friday night I got together with some coworkers (all women) and we got on the topic of hospitals. I mentioned that I was excited to deliver in Manhasset because I had heard it was beautiful and comfy. Another women laughed and said "Sure, if you can get in a room. So and so was in labor for x amount of hours and she was in the hallway for half of it. That hospital is too crowded to expect a private room." I mentioned that the maternity rooms had just been redone and got a similar reaction. For any ladies who have delivered there recenty, is overcrowding still an issue? I was assuming that the whole experience would be great but now I feel nervous about it.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

I plan on delivering there. I have actually never heard of that. My SIL had both babies there, one as recently as last April and that was not an issue. Also, I went on a tour a couple of weeks ago and the maternity wing including both delivery and post partum were pretty empty.

I delivered DD there and maybe it was just the night I was there but it was WAY overcrowded. I had to spend 12-14 hours in recovering waiting for a room and when my room was ready I shared it with SIX other girls. I couldn't have cared less b/c I had my baby and I was on cloud nine, but my DH was PO'd. We're licing in Brooklyn now and will be delivering at a different hospital.

FWIW...that was my only issue with the hospital!

I just went on the tour yesterday and they assured us that no one will be in any hallway waiting and everyone will get their own room.

I am not going to lie, after seeing the rooms it got me excited to give birth there!

i gave birth aug 2009 - it wasnt overcrowded at all.
i shared the regular rooms later with one other woman.

my cousin gave birth last month and let me just tell you this: WOWWWWWWW!
I was sooo impressed, its basically like staying at the W!!!!!!!
flat screen tv, fridge, safe, huge bathroom, with huge shower, sofa, etc. etc. NICE!

I delivered there in sept and the experience was wonderful. it really felt like being in a hotel. the room, the bath room, the food, etc and the floor I was on only had 5 rooms occupied

oh and the sofa turns into a bed for your partner

My SIL ddlievefed there on Friday ... She did not have an issue as she got one of the last delivery rooms but she did get the last available room once the baby was born (after waiting for about 2 hrs) & she was saying some ladies were waiting on beds in the hallway. I don't know if it was a crazy busy day or if that is normal for there.

I was wondering the same thing. DH's Aunt (years ago of course) was there in a hallway twice... never got a room!

Even with the new ward I started thinking how long will they actually be doing private rooms? I feel like even more people will want to go there now.

I've delivered there twice - Feb 08 and Aug 09 - and I was never in the hallway. I was in recovery with one of them for a while b/c it was busy but still in a room that night.

Everyone I know delivered there and none of us had a problem at all. Hallways sounds crazy - I definitely would not be down for that!

I just delivered there in August. It was not overcrowded and I got a private room. I was on the 5th floor and it was pretty empty up there. It all depends on the day, sometimes its more crowded than other times. Btw, the new wing is beautiful, I didnt feel like I was in a hospital at all! Good Luck.
