NPR: Stomach pains only at night?
About 3 weeks ago, I had immense stomach pain for a night. It was bad enough that it kept me up all night but not bad enough that I thought I had to go to the ER. It totally went away when I woke up the next morning.
Starting from about a week ago, I've had strong stomache pain only at night. I will feel totally fine all day and even when I go to bed but I will wake up 10pm-1am with pretty strong stomach pain.
At first I thought I ate something bad but I'm beginning to think it is something more. It may be relevant but my mom had stomach cancer at age 60.
Does anyone else have experience with something similiar?
DH has no answers for me. He thinks it may be my uterus from where I say the pain is. Thinking it is more GI than obgyn. I will probably make an appointment with a GI doctor in the morning.

It may be reflux.. If it is only happening at night, it may be because you are laying down. I get pain on my left side when my reflux flares up. Definitely go see a GI. Hope you feel better soon.

Re: NPR: Stomach pains only at night?
my DH is GI, I'm vague on this, but I think if you're mom had stomach cancer that puts you at a high risk and you need to get screenings ... have you talk to your doctors about scheduling screenings?
It could be reflux, or it could just be gas build up. Gas can be terribly painful and can sometimes staying still might cause that build up.
Have you tried taking something for gas, because thats harmless. If its reflux, you can try prilosec or ask for nexium prescript, most any doctor will prescribe it without question if you say you have heartburn.
My guess is that OBGYN issues, don't magically go appear in the middle of the night. But gas, especially for me does, especially when i was pregnant. On many nights, It was so bad, I thought I was loosing baby.

DH spoke to a GI who works at his hospital. He thinks it is probably indigestion. I'm going to take maalox and if it doesn't get better, he told me to come in to get tests.

Where is the pain? Could it be gallbladder?

I originally thought it was my appendix or gallblader. DH ruled it out when I showed him where my pain is.
