NPR: MTA Vent!!!
DH and I both use the LIRR and Subways. Now our commute is going up $156!!!! Total over $550!!! This is insane! How are the middle class supposed to live!? And theyre cutting routes! so i have to pay more to squeeze!!! i hate the MTA!!! theyre such a monopoly!!!

I just complained about this in the NFR forum! My ticket alone will be appx. $350, my husband's around $275 (he doesn't need the subway but I do). It's such a joke! One of the worst parts of it all is that we pay more $ but service/quality/cleanliness never improves. In fact, I feel like more and more the trains are delayed, canceled, in seemingly avoidable "accidents", and are overcrowded. They are also getting dirtier. I can appreciate that it must take a ton of money to run the complex networks of trains, pay employees, etc. but give me a break!!

amen!!! and the Long Island buses are canceling service and not taking the unlimited metrocards anymore. i took that to and from the train everyday. im seriously thinking of driving into downtown brooklyn everyday now.
