Now i'm upset.

Everything I have read says that IUI should be performed 36-48 hours AFTER the HCG injection in order to be well timed. Why is it that mine was only 15 hours afterwards? Why did they do it so early?

I want to call now but of course the phones are off at 4pm.

Why do I feel like this is not a good thing.Chat Icon

Re: Now i'm upset.

sweety - there is a reason that they are doctors and you are not. you have to give in to the fact that they SHOULD KNOW WHAT THEY ARE DOING....

Call them tomorrow morning and i'm sure you will get a perfect explanation to make you go, 'wow, i'm a dork'....but until then - stressing is NOT going to help you at all...

One VERY important thing my Re told me and then the nurse told me and then OTHER nurse told me....anything we do for you is based on our research. Please be aware that you will i'm sure, read things online, on message boards, etc...but what those experiences are, do not necessarily pertain to how WE ARE TREATING YOU...we are treating you with research that may not even be out there yet, but we have it, because we've DONE IT...

Re: Now i'm upset.

I am trying to assure myself that they know what they're doing- but I know i'm a dork already- so i'm kinda like- what the hay?

Oh well- guess i'll just have to wait and see.

Re: Now i'm upset.

It's for emergency only. I don't think they would qualify this as an emergency.

Re: Now i'm upset.

The only thing I can think is that your b/w showed that you were going to ovulate sooner than later. Trigger can also help mature smaller follies. Also, I cannot remember. Did you do clomd or injectibles? B/c that will make a difference. You dont' really need trigger with clomid. People are put on that to make them ovulate. I'm gonna search your back posts.

And (I said this on your other post) I got a positive OPK last cycle the same day I ovulated. I confirmed this with b/w. And I felt it later that night. Thought I was crazy.

Re: Now i'm upset.

I have NEVER heard of an IUI being done 36-48 hours after trigger.
The sperm live for up to five days...the egg can release anywhere from 24-48 hours after trigger. The sperm need a little time to get up the tubes...it does not happen in an hour.
The timing is fine. At most, you could call your RE and ask for a second IUI to improve your chances, but as it stands now - you are fine.

I would usually have an IUI about 24 hours after the trigger.

FYI - its not true you don't need a trigger with clomid - some do - I did. Because of PCOS I never got an LH surge - my follies got big and ripe but I never would have ovulated on my own - I needed the trigger to get the eggs to release.

Re: Now i'm upset.

I always had my IUI within 24 hours of my trigger. I'm sure your doctors know what they are doing. Try not to worry.

Re: Now i'm upset.

Jenny-the IUI that i did was not even 24 hours after my trigger, well, that was the one that took! I did a BD on Thurs night, Friday Triggered and Sat am IUI and Sat night BD and bam i was preggo.
Good Luck and try not to read into the timing of IUI too much. Just keep going at it, my DH had poor morphology too so we were dealing with male factor on top of me only having one tube!

Thank you!!

We triggered Sat night, IUI Sunday morning and BD sunday night. We were going to BD last night too, but I fell asleep, so that didn't happen. Do you think that's good?

I think you covered your bases. When I did IUI, I did them 24 hours after trigger. Then I asked to do one 36 hours after trigger. GL. I'm also in the 2ww with you. Just finished an IVF cycle
