Not telling right away
I am the only one not telling family or friends right away? I am just so scared of another m/c that I don't want to tell yet. We were going to wait until our sonogram which falls around 8 weeks...
I want to tell people, and make it feel more real, but I am scared.

Re: Not telling right away
I feel the same way. In a way I want to tell them but on the other hand I want to confirm with the dr first. Although I saw my mom the other day and she kept asking me if I felt ok...probably asked me about 100x...Now everyday she calls to see how I am feeling and to see if AF showed up....I just keep telling her I feel fine and that AF is due soon.....I just dont want to disappoint them....
Hope that doesnt sound weird

Re: Not telling right away
I actually see it 50/50 with half of the people I know sharing their good news right away and the other half waiting a while.
For me, I waited until I was past the 12 weeks - a combination of supertition, nervousness and because while the family would have been really happy for us - they would have been the first to say I should have waited.
So for me, I waited until the results of my NT before saying anything.
Everyone is different...and everyone has their reasons...all good. At the end of the day it's a great thing to share.

I want to tell people, and make it feel more real, but I am scared. I did not tell right away. We knew at 4 weeks, had the first sono at 5 weeks & did not tell anyone until about 7 - 8 weeks. The only reason why we even told that early is b/c my ILs had to watch my dogs eevrytime I had to go to the Dr, which was about once a week in the beginning.

Re: Not telling right away
I am scared too. If it were up to me I'd wait a few more weeks but DH doesn't want to. He is waaayyy too excited. Plus, his Dad is an OBGYN and thinks his family will understand that it is still early and that they shouldn't tell too many people. I figured, if our family knows, I'll only get more prayers that the baby will be healthy!!! Plus, I too can't wait to tell people! We are telling them this weekend (at 4 1/2 weeks pg).
I'ved asked myself the question, what is my fear if something were to ever go wrong and people knew? My biggest fear would probably be that people would think that I was a failure or did something wrong and ruined my own pregnancy...but thinking about that rationally...I know no one will really thing that about me!!!

Re: Not telling right away
I am glad to read other's feedback on this situation. I truly want to shout it from the rooftops, but I am so scarred from my prior experience. If we have a healthy bean growing and see it at our 2/12 sonogram then I think we will start to tell family. It is just feels like forever away right now. I would give anything for a crystal ball.

Re: Not telling right away
I'm waiting until I'm 11-12 weeks to tell any family.
It's hard keeping it in though. When my nosey co-worker asked me today why my face looks fuller, I said it's because I'm fat. She probably asks me 3 times a week if I'm pg. I feel weird denying it but it's really none of her loud-mouth business

Re: Not telling right away
We found out at 3 1/2 weeks and shared it with our closest family and friends right away...and I HAD to tell my LIW girls. My reason for telling was that if God forbod anything happened and they didnt know, I would have to tell them eventually...

Re: Not telling right away
I had 3 m/c's so I know how you feel. We told both sides of the family after we found out about the first time right away, then never got the chance to tell them about the second ( I found out and m/c'd a week later), and the third we told them at 8 weeks and I m/c'd at 10. For a very long time I felt like a failure and could not imagine telling our families again and then disapointing them.
This pregnancy I waited till I was 13 weeks to tell my parents and DH's parents. We did not tell our siblings till 16 weeks and waited till 20 weeks to tell the rest of our family.

I am realizing this more and more. Af first I was upset that DH told people but after hearing some of the news at work and in our immediate circles I am realizing it doesnt matter if its 3 weeks or 3months-what will be will be.
