not ready for milk yet

Anyone have to take their DC off milk and try soymilk for a while?

DD started milk last week, first mixed with formula. Past two day she has had it straight, she doesn't mind the taste at all.

However, I notice she is very gassy since starting milk and tends to cry when she poops. I felt awful (plus she is teething or has a cold)...rough week!

Just talked to the Ped and they said some babies aren't ready for milk at a year, so to try soymilk for a month then wean back to whole milk.

Anyone have experience with this? Did you DC take to whole milk after more time?

Yes, milk made my son constipated. I switched him to soy, and he has done fine ever since. If we are out, he will occasionally have a few sips of milk, and he eats all regular kinds of dairy, but I think drinking too much milk did it to him.

Will you try to wean him to milk? Or are you sticking with soy?

Re: not ready for milk yet

For now I am sticking with soy...but he really only gets 1 glass a day (he drinks it in the morning, takes forever, and then doesnt really drink it at night). I know its not because of the soy milk, because when he was younger, he used to down it.

Again, everything else he eats is milk based, so I really don't think its a bad thing that he drinks the soy milk.
