Not my day

So, one of my friends called me today to tell me that she was pregnant with twins (not due to fertility treatments). I'm happy for her, of course, but as you all know, it's always a blow to hear that yet ANOTHER friend is going to be a parent. I feel so left behind. Chat Icon

Then, I went to Dr. B for my first day of monitoring after taking Femara and dexamethasone - no follies! I was so hoping that I'd be responsive to the meds. I'm going back on Monday, so we'll see what happens then. He said that if doesn't see any progress, I might move on to injectables. I was happy to hear that at least that can continue during this cycle and I don't have to wait for AF to try again.

On a positive note, although I never got my thyroid results from the endocrinologist (Dr. B's BIL), my TSH was normal on my CD 3 bloodwork. Also, Dr. B noticed that it was normal in September also, and that it was just August's that was slightly elevated, so he doesn't think it's an issue.

Re: Not my day

This is what happened to me! I was on femara and didn't respond so I needed the injections. It's really not bad though! Chat Icon Chat Icon You're right to feel positive about being able to move forward with the cycle if you don't have success at first. I can't imagine what it would be like if every time you didn't respond well to something you had to start over!! Chat Icon

You'll see progress in no time!! Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon I have always had a good experience with gonal-f (which is probably what he will put you on) and I never had any weird side effects, etc.. just lots of bloat but that's probably from the ovidrel Chat Icon who knows.....

Good luck for Monday!! Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

ETA: I'm sorry about getting that news from your friend, I know how it stings.... but just remember, that could very well be you soon!! Chat Icon

I had to go back three times before I produced a follie on Femara. It was the last appointment before he was going to start me on injectibles and I had a nice follicle. Good luck! It could still happen!

Re: Not my day

I had a bad day too. I went to see Dr. B this morning (curious what time your appointment was, I was waiting there for a really long time. I thought he forgot about me in the room) He thought I ovulated and started me on stims this week even though I didn't get my period on the lupron. I have been giving myself 2shots at night and lupron in the morning. Im bruised from the lovenux. Im even back on prednisone again which I hate.
I was told I would have my retrieval next Friday. Well he calls me at 5 and says jokingly Im driving him crazy. My blood says I triggered early, and that I can stop the stims and keep the lupron and prednisone, he couldn't find my corpus luteum I don't know. He wants to see me on Monday and I should have asked him to connect me to the front desk but I forgot. I called back when he hung up it was 4:50 I got the emergency line so now I have to call Monday for an appointment later that day. I just hate the waiting game and not knowing when things are going to happen. I was looking forward to having it done next week, I guess change is good. I have to wait till I get my period now. Im just so confused and tired.

Re: Not my day

As for your friend I totally hear you on that. We have so many friends with kids and it is so hard. They are getting pregnant so easily and we are spending so much money on this. All I want is a baby, why is it taking so long and why is it so hard for us?!?!?!? Im happy for them, really I am. I watch two kids I love kids, I just want my own!!!!!

I feel you on the friends thing. I also am happy for them, but wish it was me - especially since we got married first and everyone in this group seems to be getting pregnant first. We went out last night and - even among the guys - the word pregnancy, baby bump, baby, etc. was said SO many times... I wanted to leave so badly and I feel like I was probably really rude and quiet, but it was hard. Plan for next time (assuming I don't have to drive home): I think I will take a drink every time someone says a baby-related word. It will be funny - even though no one will know. On second thought, that may not be a good idea... in the course of vomiting after that, I'd probably confess the rules of my game and that would be embarrassing! Eh, always looking for the humor in all this misery...

I hear you. This was my first cycle on Clomid and I didn't produce any follies yet either. It's tough. You know you have trouble ovulating, you hear there's a pill that can make you ovulate, and even that doesn't work. In my case, I have to keep reminding myself that the RE knows what she's doing, and that if it's not working there are still a whole lot of treatment options out there. Clomid/Femara is just the first step. I've found that reading through the posts from the women on this board who have been through it all really helps me. I hope it helps you too. We need something, right?
