Not feeling well and am concerned...

Starting last night, I started to feel kinda naus and my stomach hurt a little. I had a flu shot, so it's definitely not that.

I thought that I was probably just run down, but this morning I still feel sh!tty, but it's not like I am sleeping great with an almost 3 week old.

Anyone ever feel like this postpartum? I just want to sleep it off, but I can't... thank god DH is home this week, but I am worried I have something-- HOW I could have gotten something since I basically don't leave the house, I don't know.

Now I am worried someone brought some sickness here and Sasha is at risk, or my milk will get her sick. I am really hoping I just need a little rest-- but, can't help but be concerned for her. I know, I am the HUGEST worry wart. Chat Icon

the BEST thing you can do for sasha right now is continue to breastfeed! that can actually help to prevent her from getting sick. try to avoid touching her mouth and nose and wash your hands a lot. is there anyone who can help you so you can get some rest?

Nah...worring keeps you on your toes...welcome to my world!

When I had the stomach virus I pumped and dumped (and cried) until my doctor told me to sto and give the milk. When I had a cold they said it was best to keep going because the antibodies your body builds up are even more abundant for the baby...share the wealth.

You definitely need to hand that beautiful baby over to your DH and get some sleep. If you can't shake this go to the doctor and see what's up.

She'll be okay! Chat Icon Keep an eye out and if you do go to the doctor and find that you are sick...make a quick call to the ped for advice for yoru DD

Rest assurred that your milk won't get her sick. The only time it's recommended to NOT BF is if you are taking medications that are harmful. In fact, the BFing will likely keep her from getting sick.

Also- there IS a strain of flu going around that was not covered by this year's vaccine. I don't want to worry you- but perhaps you might want to run to a CVS minuteclinic and have a test done that can confirm if you have the flu or not. If you DO have flu, you can get Tamiflu which can GREATLY reduce the flu's severity. BUT- it must be taken within a day or 2 of symptoms starting.

Your milk won't get her sick. It's actually good to BF while you're sick b/c you're giving her the antibodies. Just try not to breathe too much on her and wash your hands frequently. Feel better. Chat Icon
