Not eating when sick - When does it become a problem?

My DS (14mo) had Croup on Saturday night and is still sick today. I called his Ped on Sunday and he called in a RX for a steroid to help with the Croup... it helped so much. We went in on Monday morning and he prescribed Cefdinir (antibiotic) as well bc his throat was red and infected. He has been on both meds and really hasn't had a real meal since Saturday night. He's drinking fluids and I can sneak in a couple of spoonfuls of pastina, applesauce and jello but that's it. He will only eat very little at a time. I told the Ped about this on Monday and he basically said "He doesn't feel good, so he doesn't want to eat. He won't waste away." I have another call into his Ped today bc he doesn't seem to be getting any better and the not eating is really worrying me. It's been 4 days! When does it become a problem? Thanks so much

ETA: He also has diarrhea (and a horrendous rash) from the antibiotics so I've been giving him Pedialyte to drink. I'm afraid he's going to become dehydrated. Chat Icon

ETAA: NOW I BELIEVE WHAT THEY SAY ABOUT BALLPITS! Never again! Chat Icon

i think as long as he's getting his fluids he should be fine. just try giving him a little at a time.

i don't know when it becomes a problem but I do dd only ate cheerios and water for 2 weeks when she was sick. I was worried but as soon as she was feeling better she was back to eating normal. I would just like him eat when he wants and how ever much he wants. I wouldn't worry for another few days
