 | Nose bleeds My 4 year old has a bloody nose every once in a while. It doesn't seem to matter if it's summer or winter. He seems to get them about once a month. Any idea what could cause this in the summer? | | Posted 7/25/17 5:23 PM |

 | Re: Nose bleeds I used to get them a lot as a child too. I grew out of them for the most part. I couldn't pin point why either. I thought it was allergies as I got older. And now my 4 yr old dd gets them too. And I can't figure out the trigger either. Although she gets more when she has any kind of cold. Do you have any history in the family? Do any adults in the family get nose bleeds? | | Posted 7/25/17 8:35 PM |

 | Re: Nose bleeds DS is prone to nose bleeds. He's 14, and it's been happening for years. This year, I got a whole house humidifier, and another for his room. It has helped tremendously. Central air dries out the air, which makes the nose much more susceptible to bleeding. The humidifier puts moisture back in the air, so the nose doesn't get dried out.
Forced air heating in the winter also dries out the air.

It's not guaranteed to stop the nose bleeds, but it should help.

Summer and winter... but more in winter
I think it's because our house is so dry from heat and central air
