North Carolina

Just for kicks, I want to look up some real estate in North Carolina. For all of you NC girls, what are the best areas in NC? By best I mean great school districts, beautiful houses, close to shopping/ attractions, etc.

Thanks so much! Chat Icon

I don't want to throw a curve ball, but one of my acquaintances just moved to GA saying that kids can get free college tuition through a "Hope Scholarship". Maybe this is something you want to look into since you have kids.

P.S. I heard really good things about the Raleigh-Durham area especially if you/DH are in technical or medical fields.

I'm looking also to relocate to NC. We are looking into the Huntersville area. Does anyone know if that area is good. We are also now looking into the Concord area.Their is a development called Winding Path that my RE is telling us about. If anyone knows about that area, any info would be greatly appreciated.

Yeah...no curve balls...but this is true! Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

If your child spends at least his/her senior year in and graduates from a GA HS, they get free college tuition to a state college (and GA State is kinda awesome!).

In NC, I would look into Cary, Raleigh, Charlotte.

Georgia is great with this but there are two caveats - 1) you must maintain at least a B average and 2) you have to get into UGA. You're not guaranteed admission if you get the scholarship. Just something to keep in mind.

I live in High Point NC...we live in a very new up and coming area, they are building like crazy here...everything is brand new and we are right outside of greensboro where there is every store you could ever think of...other places that are nice are Cary, Raliegh, Charolette, and Durham

For you NC girls - what about the Wilmington area? DH and I are fixated on it for some reason - and we've never even been there Chat Icon

Its very nice...on the coast...but prone to hurricanes! Like the one is coming very shortly, after last year with all the hurricanes, we decided to live more inland

I live in Charlotte - Huntersville is not far from us at all. It is a very nice area - more rural than closer to the city, but I'm sure it will be built up in the next 10 years since the city is growing so quickly. For public school there is North Mecklenburg HS, which is ranked in the top 100 (Newsweek) I believe. I'm not familiar w/ private schools in that area.

Concord is also a great area. The only thing w/ Concord is that it is where Lowes Motor Speedway is located - any weekend that something is happening at the speedway, it will be near enough impossible to leave your house. People take NASCAR very seriously out here!! Chat Icon

Good luck!
