North Babylon

Hi, starting to think of areas to buy a home in. Any pros, cons of North Babylon? It seems pretty affordable. Thanks.

The school district is supposedly not the best, I am not sure why. I lived there for eight years (before I met DH) and I really liked it. We didn't look there to buy though, cuz I heard bad things about the SD.
Not sure if they are true or not though....

A good friend of mine grew up there. I have been to her house and the area is beautiful. But they DID NOT like the SD so her parents sent her to private school!

Danielle and i almost bought a really nice Splanch there but we decided against it because of what we heard about the schools.

i grew up there up until i was 10, school district isn't that good (not to be confused with the Babylon School district which is very good). But its a nice town.

I grew up there and graduated from the HS with honors and went on to college. EVERY school district is what YOU make of it!!

I grew up there, went to the schools and am now buying my parents home there. I think the elementry schools are fine, it's the HS that gets the bad press. I think it has something to do with the fact that it is a big school and there are kids that attend that do not live in the district. I would agree that it is not the best HS on LI, but it is not the worst either.

I agree with the previous post...it's what your child makes of it that counts. I went there and me and my friends all went on to college and turned out fine. Plus, who knows what it will be like in 5, 10 or 15 years.

I am also looking in N.Babylon. DH has an aunt & uncle who live there and it is a very nice neighborhood. Yes the HS does have a bad rep but I'm not going to not consider the neighborhood because of it. I don't have children yet so it won't be another 15+ years until I would have to worry about that and who knows what any school district will be like then?

I rented there in the past and my sister lives there now. I love a lot of the area..some are so-so, but its not a BAD area, its just so so...BUt I think for the price of the houses, its not bad at all. The high school is so so. The district I think is given a bad name.
