Non-toxic lawn care/maintenance?
We currently have a landscaper that uses conventional pesticides and fertilizers. Does anyone know of a company that uses natural, non-toxic applications? I've heard of Trugreen but a lot of people were unhappy with them.

You can hire them for mowing the lawn but use your own organic/natural fertilizer. That's what I do!

That's what we do too..but finding organic lawn care products can be a pain on LI unless you live near some feed stores!

Many nurseries now carry organic fertilizer. I believe HD does to in some of their stores.

DH mows the lawn but we buy organic fertilizer and do everything ourselfs. Have you asked the people you use of they do it? What if you buy it for them to use? I don't know of anyplace but trugreen and my friends aren't really happy with them. Sorry, can't help.

I don't know a landscaping company but you can purchase a product line from a company call Neudorff that is organic and non-toxic.

Re: Non-toxic lawn care/maintenance?
alternative earthcare is what we use to spray for bugs--mosquitoes, ants, etc.--and all their stuff is "food-grade." they do lawn care also, but for that we use emerald, which has a mostly organic program. they still use chemicals sparingly to do spot treatments for things like dandelions that don't die unless you use the bad stuff.
FM me if you want me to dig out their contact info.

Re: Non-toxic lawn care/maintenance?
I'm trying out corn gluten meal this weekend from Bradfield Organics (purchased from Bayport Flower House). We'll still have to pull dandelions that rooted last season but I'm hoping it will cut down on the weed seed germination, especially for crabgrass. It's also a great source of nitrogen.
