Non party ideas for baby's first birthday.
So I think we're going to be bad and not throw DS2 a first birthday party. We want to do a nice family outing instead and then just have close family over for cake and coffee either that night or next day. His birthday is the end of October. Any ideas where we can go??? We have a 2.5 year old too so something they'd both enjoy.
I'd like something different. We've done whitepost, aquarium, zoo, etc....

I would do something seasonal like pumpkin picking. Get some good photo ops then maybe go to Harbes and get some cider donuts and show DS the animals. I also like Brighteatwrs farms for younger kids.

Pumpkin/apple picking or maybe do Rise of Jack o Lanterns at night.

Non party ideas for baby's first birthday.
Governor's Island is great. You can rent a surrey bike, and put the little one in the basket up front. Have a picnic, etc.

Maybe Sesame Place? They have a cute setup for the fall/halloween time. The kids may both enjoy seeing the characters.

I was just looking into Governors Island and it said the Island is not open after Oct 1st. I found that odd. So it just sits empty until May?

Yup..no one would go there when it's cold. It's a warm weather place. Everything is outside. It used to only be open Memorial Day to Labor Day until this year
Although it's not entirely empty...there is a NYC public school on there, and probably a few other entities

Non party ideas for baby's first birthday.
Last year the Suffolk county farm did a really cute sunset wagon ride in October. You can get a private group together and they do a wagon ride, pumpkin picking, feed the animals, and end with a campfire with Smores and warm cider.

It really is...it's like the best kept "secret" around. Most people I know have never even heard of it!
