Our town gives them out if you call. I think it kinda works because of that or maybe because we are the boo radleys of the block

I have this from Etsy.
It works very well. During the warmer weather, we had solicitors up to 4x a week. No joke. Since the sign? 1 or 2 here and there but eventually they see the sign and stop knocking

Our town gives them out (town of oyster bay). I called and got one recently when I saw a solicitor see it in someone else's door and turn right around as soon as they saw it.

I have a small one next to my door, and it works sometimes. Religious people tend to ignore it and knock anyway  , but I just don't answer. People selling things, working for a real business, tend to be more respectful of the sign, I think, because I've noticed we haven't gotten many, if any, of them knocking at all since we put up the sign.
Eta: I just printed it out from my computer, typed it up in Word, tried to make it a little pretty with a nice font and a border. It just says "No solicitors, please", and I taped it right next to the door. It's small, just about 2 inches by 3 inches.

I got a sticker through the Town of Hempstead (a few years ago), not sure if they are still giving them out.
Residents can order their free “Do Not Knock” decal by calling (516) 812-3200

My mom made up a cute one, but it was geared to deter the Religious groups that constantly solicit in her neighborhood. Ever since she put it up, they have never rung her doorbell. When I go over later I will look at the exact wording.

We got them from town of Hempstead. We have not had any salesmen come by since putting it up, and we used to get a few a month.
