No short sleeves for me...
I have psoriasis. When I was prego it went away and things where great...no clothes restrictions....BUT now that my DD is 4 months it seems to be getting worse. Its only on my elbows but its ugly and I will not where short sleeves because of it....its very depressing. I finally got an appt with my dr on weds after the 2 month weight for him but I know what ever meds he gives me are not going to help quick enough.
I am soo sad that I cant where any cute tanks or short sleeves shirts....UGHH
Ok sorry I needed to vent. I wish it would just GO AWAY!!

Re: No short sleves for me...
My daughter (5) has very bad eczema and I can relate to how you feel. She only wants to wear things that cover the patches ... it's so hard.

Re: No short sleves for me...
it's immune related, right? I had an autoimmune disease which nearly destroyed my skin.... on my FACE! It was horrible. I looked like an alien for almost a full year Since is was an acute reaction (vs chronic/ flare-ups), I haven't had to deal with it for years now...
I mention my situation becuase your condition is uncomfy and not pretty, but at least it's restricted to an area you can easily cover... Always count your blessings, even in seemingly unfortunate circumstances...
I hope the Dr. can improve your situation!!!

Re: No short sleves for me...
Someone in my family has it really bad (not just on the arms)..they got really good cream from the Dermotologist and going out in the sun helps it alot. Try sitting in your yard in the sun or go tanning a few times...it will help it clear up

Re: No short sleves for me...
I have it too. I have had since I was 12. I am currently using talconex. Last month, I told the dermatologist that we are going to be TTC in the next few months so I didn't want anything that strong. All the topicals they perscribe are steroids and they get into your blood. The talconex is as well, but its not as stong. It has cleared up my elbows 98% in the last month. I also have it bad on my lower legs. In the last month I have seen a 10% improvement. I wish I could wear capris to work. It really stinks!

Re: No short sleves for me...
my mom has it really bad and has tried a whole bunch of different meds. The only one that has worked is recently she has gotten is clobex spray. It cleared it up so wonderfully!

Re: No short sleves for me...
An ex-boyfriend had this problem and the dr told him to use the anti-dandruff shampoo denorex and put it on and sit out in the sun. Within a month it had practically gone away

Re: No short sleves for me...
I have it too. And severe eczema. It covers my neck, face, and arms and hands. I've had it my whole life, and I used to be the one to cover up all the time. I've found myself the past few years just going for it - wearing short sleeves and just dealing. I find that for my eczema, a little sun really helps.... i think sun for psoriasis aggravates it though.

I also have psoriasis on my elbows...I do use a prescription cream...but, you must try pine tar soap. You can get it at Whole Foods...it's called Grandpa's pine tar soap. Or, there is another brand called Packer's.
It works!!!!! Please try it!

Sorry to hear this. I feel for her. Have you tried Aveno oatmeal baths. They used to work for me.

ME TOOOO ... it's awful It's so painful and SO humiliating.
I've slept with gloves on my hands, I wash everyday with a clinical-grade antimicrobial soap (hibiclens), use disposable razors (a new one every time I shave, and a separate razor for pits and legs), taken 12 weeks of antibiotics (both oral and topical), used steroid tape, creams, ointments, sprays, shots, you name it. It clears for a bit, then comes back.
I've seen 2 derms, an allergist, and several general practitioners....seeing an endocrinologist next month. If I don't see results from whatever the endo wants to try, I'm going to contact a holistic healer in the city. A friend used her and saw results in 3 days... (diet changes, herbal products, etc.)
I've spent years and thousands of dollars in dr visits and meds...and i'm still suffering.
My skin is worse in the heat of the summer (in terms of itch and raised bumps), but sun and saltwater help healing. Occasionally, before I go to bed, I fill a basin with saltwater and soak my shins for about an hour, sponging water over them the whole time. It really dries out the wounds and heals them faster. After soaking, I towel dry my legs (with paper towels - don't want to spread bacteria) then coat them with a thin layer of tea tree oil. This REALLY soothes and cools it - perfect for sleeping!
Hang in there
