No rice while on Axid?
DS just got put on Axid and the ped told me that I had to change the formula because you can't have him on a rice formula and reflux meds.....
Anyone have experience with this or know why?

No but I'd sure like to know 
My DD is no longer on Axid (we switched to Zantag) & we started Rice cereal in her bottles at the same time.
I'm guessing since they are both antacids it's the same thing.

Melanie is on .6ml of Zantac 3 times a day and 6 oz of nutramigen /1 oz of beech nut soy and milk free rice cereal per bottle.
She's been on rice and zantac for about a month now.

DD gets beechnut rice cereal in regular Enfamil Lipil. She is on Prevacid AND 1.5ml of Zantac. i've never heard of the no rice with Axid

I wasnt told anything about that... DS was on AXID he was on Nutramigen formula,...although I think its all BS, bc i got fed up when he was 6 1.2 months old, and just stopped with the axid, and nutramigen and put him on Enfamil AR Lipil, and hes never been happier, and noooo morrre spitup!!!

Well, unfortunately I have tried almost every formula with no luck.....so meds was the next step....
But I specifically remember the PA saying he's gotta be off the RS before he can start meds......

MY DS is on Axid and Mylanta and we were given the option of adding rice. He had rice in his bottles before being on Axid, and he was not ready for it.

aww Listen to your doc and do what's best for your little one
My DD's were/are both on meds(prevacid/pepcid) for reflux, and NEITHER of them had rice cereal in their bottles. My doc is very strict about no grains before 6 months old and doesn't believe that rice cereal does anything for reflux.
