no flu vaccines at ped office...what to do??
I just called my ped office to see if i should bring natalie in for a flu shot before her nov 21 appt and they don't even have any flu vaccines in the office and probably won't get them before then. What should I do? They are recommending people go to pharmacies, etc, but I don't know if i feel comfortable doing that. Is it okay to wait til 11/21?

A lot of pharmacies won't give the shot to kids under 9. I would wait.

My ped's office was out of them and just got their shipment. I would call every few days to see if they came in. Maybe they will get them in before they expect them.

ITA. My peds office is expecting to run out very shortly and they just aren't sure when they will get more in. DD is due for her booster shot next week and we are on a wait and see basis. I have called twice to get updates since they let me know

Did you look into a walk-in clinic? I did it a few years ago when I needed a flu shot and my PCP didn't have any. Insurance covered it too!

Abby's peds office doent have the infant dose either. She is on a waiting list and we will be called. I was told by another mom in the office that the vaccines given at places like Walgreens have preservatives in them and not to go there.
If many offices don't have them I don't have much of a choice.

Keep calling. I called my peds office on Monday and they told me they only had the non-preservative free in the office and didn't know when they would be getting the preservative free in. As luck would have it, I was at the peds office yesterday for DD's pink eye and asked the Dr. when they thought they'd get it in, and she said they had JUST gotten it yesterday morning. So, DD got her first shot yesterday.
As for the drug stores, (walgreens, cvs, etc...), they do not give flu shots to infants or children under 9.

Walgreens has preservative free vaccines available for $29.99 instead of the regular shot for $24.99. I got mine there last month with no problems. The bigger question with Walgreens is if they'll vaccinate infants/toddlers. They had no problems vaccinating me while pregnant.

They won't vaccinate infants. I called Walgreens, CVS, and maybe one other pharmacy and none of them would. I also couldn't find a clinic or hospital that would. They all said you had to go to your pediatrician and didn't know what to say if your ped was out of it.

The CVS Minute Clinic WILL give the regular flu shot to children over 18 months.
