No bottles by 12 months?
Is this true? My DD is 8.5 months and she can use regular and straw sippies fairly easily at this point, but still gets 3-4 bottles of formula a day. A friend told me that by 12 months, kids should be weaned from bottles as much as possible since whole milk should be introduced by cup only. Is this true?

Re: No bottles by 12 months?
It was totally easy for us. DD didn't care but I don't think that's the norm but it's definitely a good goal to try to have but not an absolute.

yes, you should really not put milk in a bottle....I am sure it is not harmful if you did but it is not recommended

Re: No bottles by 12 months?
My dr said she recommends weaning from teh bottle by 15 months...well DS is 15 months and it hasnt happened yet.
She never told me not to put whole milk in the bottle but she did say from teh first time I stared a sippy to put their formula/milk in a sippy so that they dont just associate the sippy with wather/juice etc.
My goal was 18 m onths to just have a bedtime bottle but I think my DS is stronger than I am, so we will see!

ITA, my ped even recommends that i try to teach my daughter (10 months) to use a cup now so when she is one it isn't a strange thing or a toy for her.

Re: No bottles by 12 months?
My DS hated bottles, and was off them by 1 year.
I never put milk in them (my DH did b/c he is a moron ) but we didn't have the problem with switching over.

Re: No bottles by 12 months?
My ped suggested this & we tried it. After we stopped the bm a few days b4 her first bday; we put her whole milk in her sippy & she never once asked for her bottle. It was the easiest thing ever. Couldn't hurt to try it!

Re: No bottles by 12 months?
My Dr said the same thing. We've been introducing the sippy cup and trying to get DD to drink from it. She is 10 1/2 months old. She can drink from it, but most of the time uses it as a chew toy!

Re: No bottles by 12 months?
My DD's Ped recommended to be off by 12 months.
Kaitee was off them by 12 months and Brooke was off them by 11 months.
