No?
When do you start telling baby no and when do you think they start to understand?

Re: No?
I tell Emily No sometimes because she likes to get into everything, but usually try to offer her something else instead before using that word because I don't want her to think that everything is "no."

Re: No?
I *try* to reserve NO for the REALLY bad things...otherwise I try to get creative...like..."Talia food is for eating...not for playing with" Or "If you touch that you are going to get a boo boo" things like that.

Re: No?
At this point the only things she does that would require a no are hair pulling and stealing glasses off dh's face.

Re: No?
I've only really started saying, "no" since she's been sitting up/crawling...so, 8-9 mos. She's very active and always getting into trouble, but I try to reserve it for dangerous situations. She totally understands.

Re: No?
I started when she was about 7 months. I don't think she has started listening yet! (that's not true-she listens when she feels like it )

Re: No?
I started saying No about 5 months ("No, Maddie! No biting!"). I think a baby can tell from the get go if you're upset, angry or unhappy.

Re: No?
I usually save the "no's" for big things like doing something that can hurt him. Otherwise there's a lot of "uh-uh's" and "I don't think so's".

My son is two and I was wondering the same thing! I think he understands, but definitely does not choose to listen.

Re: No?
I started a few months ago, when Alex started pinching VERY hard when she's angry or frustrated. I say no and move her hand so she's no longer pinching me, and OMG, she DEFINITELY understands!

Same her or I try to explain my reason for saying NO (ie it will hurt you, its too big for babies, its naptime now not playtime, etc) I am trying to get my DH to do the same thing instead of just blurting out No all the time.
