NK Cells

Hi Everyone,
I am new to the blog. I have one DD after a successful IVF cycle. I then had one failed FET - chemical pregnancy. I switched docs and was given a 2nd opinion by SIRM. The testing showed I have a high level of NK cells. Dr is recommending I do intralipids plus steroids during my next cycle. Anyone ever experience anything like this?
Thanks! Good luck to all!!

I do. IVIG is very expensive and I could not afford it but I was on prednsione for the first 16 weeks of my pregnancy. It is a very controversial subject. You can find some info onb it if you go to Dr. Alan Beer's website-just google his name

I was also on prednisone, but for 13 weeks. It was successful and my dd appears to have no adverse affects at one yr. SIRM is one of the only places in ny that advocates this therapy, many well-respected IF offices disagree with this diagnoses and treatment. I wonder.....

Re: NK Cells

thank you both for your responses. I've read a lot about it and realize it is controversial. However, it doesn't seem the prednisone crosses the placenta.
my previous RE's response to my chemical pregnancy was "it happens." I can't see spending as much as I do for his knowledge and getting such a ridiculous answer. Had either of you had chemical pregnancies prior to the prednisone treatment?

I had 4 pregnancy losses-1 definite chemical, 1 definite ectopic and 2 others that we really do not know what they were. I have had no big issues in this pregnancy(IVF)

Re: NK Cells

I just did this on Wednesday last week.. I highly recommend it.. I use Braverman at SIRM.. This is a very contraversial subject.. But I had 2 failed cycles IVF with out it and I am doing it this time.. With the prednisone and blood thinners.. I am actually scheduled tomorrow for my retrevial.. I say if you know you have this issue treat it.. Its not going to hurt the pregnancy or the baby.. SIRM is one of the few place that will treat this.. Good luck!! Chat Icon

Re: NK Cells

Just to let you know. I actually flew to Chicago to see Dr. Kwak-Kim who worked under Dr. Beer when he was alive. She was covered under my insurance so I paid my co-pay and obviously to travel. Then my RE and OB worked with her to administer my meds.
