My son is getting one for Xmas. He'll be 5 in February. Just ordered the bundle pack for the 3DS XL on Walmart.com. I think he's gonna love it!

DS1 got it last christmas the 3dsxl. He turned 5 hte week before.
So I say Yay! He loves it, for awhile we controlled the 3d function (you can password/pin# protect it) Now that I know he wont use it constantly he knows the code but that was my only hesitation was the 3d part is not recommended for kids under 6 I think and I even got a headache the first time i used the 3d.

yay! Perfect age!
My son got his at 4 and loved it. Got his ipod touch at 5.5 though and barely uses his ds now. (he has an older brother and gets things a lot earlier than #1...#1 got his ds at 5 and ipod touch at 7.5 but to prevent fighting it helps to get it younger.)

We got one for my DC when they were 5. There are plenty of games that aren't too complicated for a kid that age. DC played with it, and still does, all the time.
