Nikon SLR owners

Which one do you have?

And why did you pick that one?

I am going to begin my search for one and I need to know where to start...

I don't have a Nikon, I have a Canon Rebel and I love it.

Just keep them in mind when you are doing your research, I think my camera is comperable to the Nikon d40 or d60

I have the d40, b/c my MIL got it for me I wanted that one or the d60, but the d40 was more affordable.

I have the D40 and love it. I chose the D40 for a few reasons - just starting to really learn the camera and the D40 was affordable. I also found a place where I could make payments and paid it off in 6 months vs at once

I have the D40 and LOVE it. Super user friendly.

I believe (what I was told) is that the D60 is good for taking pictures if you want to blow them up.

I know a lot of girls on here have the 60, so they'd be better suited to answer.

But the D40 is super easy to use and takes great shots.

Another reason I leaned towards the d40 was because since it was the less expensive of the 2, I was able to get an additional lens (the 55-200 VR, which I LOVE). That's something to consider too.

I have the D200 (although I wanted the 300 and was prepared to get it but it was sold out EVERYWHERE at the time). I got it because I was upgrading from a D40 and was begining to form my own business.

I just got for mother's day the 50mm f/2.8 lens (available for all Nikons DSLR) and I absolutely LOVE it!

Just got D60 and love it. My early birthday present from DH. I think he was going to get D40 but decided to go with D60 bc it was only $100(or under) more.

The D90. I upgraded from my D70. The D70 was fine but I wanted the newer sensor & the option to take a quick video when I wanted.

So while I loved my D70, I guess the real answer was I wanted a new toy.

I recently got the D60. I was going to get the D40, but there was a D60 package with the extra 55-200 lens thrown in and that wound up saving me money in the end.

I LOVE IT.

D90

I bought the D60 but my Sony Cybershot point and shoot camera took photos just as well and had the video option that it really made me feel like the D60 was a waste of money. So I upgraded.

I LOVE MY D90!

I have the D50. I got it 3 years ago and it has since been discontinued. I love it and have really learned to use it. Plus I now have 4 lenses for it.

I have both the D60 & the D300....

Both the D40 & the D60 are relatively the same camera. (for arguements sake) The D60 has greater megapixels but is a actually a little slower than the D40....Both cameras are user friendly and relatively easy to use. Especially on the auto setting...

Anything over the D90 starts to get a bit more complicated as far as settings are concerned so you might want to take that into account when making your decision...

I got the D60 last July and recently upgraded to the D300. As much as the D60 taught me the D300 has even more bells and whistles...

My advice would be to get the D90. But, with that said, you will be just as happy with the D40 too....

i got the D60 with 18-55m kit. was going to get the d90 but i figured i get a cheaper one to learn first and then upgrade later. if $ is no object, go for the d90.

if i knew better before, i would have just gotten the body and purchase the 18-105m vr lens separately. it's a better lens and give u a bit more distance.

about the d40, the guy at the store told me that it's not comparable with some of the newer lens. not quite sure. u can ask if you're thinking of the d40.
