Nighttime procrastination - toddlers
I curious how you handle your nighttime routine.
We usually take half an hour and read books and sing songs, but lately the half an hour has turned into an hour of reading, singing, needing water, wanting a diaper change, you name it she tries to use it to procrastinate.
How do I handle the procrastination?

I wish I knew. I get "I have to go potty" because she knows I have to let her get up!
Love that avatar pic BTW!

Re: Nighttime procrastination - toddlers
Honestly? I say no
No, really, I do a lot of prep before-hand. When I'm changing her for bed, I tell her exactly how many books we'll read together (usually 3). When we get to the third book, just before I open it, I tell her, ok, Alex, this is the last book and then we go to bed.
Sometimes she'll ask to be changed again, and that's when I just tell her no, it's time for bed.
She'll ask for a bottle, and I'll tell her again, no it's time for bed.
Then I ask her to say goodnight to everything in her room, and we turn off the light together. Cuddle for a minute or two - if she pops up her head and asks for something, again, I say no And then we head off to her crib.

Jared wants me to cover all his dinosaurs that he sleeps with and then sing to him. I just walk out of the room and say goodnight. I still hear him talking as I shut his door, but he goes to sleep afterwards.

We're pretty similar. Just have limits and guidelines and stick with them.
However, DS figured out pretty quick that we would never say no to going to the potty. Even with that, though, we wouldn't talk to him, make sure he only did what he needed to do, and then escort him back to his room. No playing with the sink, no picking up toys, no chatting, etc. Potty, wash, bed. That way, it's not "fun".
