nightmares - UPDATE- another sleepless night
my dd is 5 months old and some nights she cries in her sleep then goes back to sleep without really opening her eyes or anything- other nights she crys in her sleep and doesn't stop right away even when i hold her, it seems like she is still sleeping but screaming in her sleep- has anyone experienced this with their DC?
any ideas what this could be?
UPDATE:
Last night she woke up every hour - crying in her sleep- after about the 3rd hour i realized she was slightly snoring and having a hard time breathing- i aspirated her nose but didnt get much. this morning after waking every hour till 530 am she screamed and opend her eyes this time and when i got her out of bed I realized how congestested her nose was. Her nose jsut kept dripping. I kept wiping it and then tried to feed her- after her pshing away the breast and bottle I finally got her to drink a little then she coughed and threw everything up like a faucet!!!
I guess maybe she is feeling under the weather. my poor little girl... any tips on how to get her to sleep better at night wiht the congestion? Anyone have a great humidifier that I should get?
THANKS!

Re: how early do babies have nightmares
Is she teething? Maybe that is what's causing it. I'm not sure about nightmares that early. Hope she feels better

Re: how early do babies have nightmares
I can't tell if she is teething- she bites everything, she is drooling I didnt feel a tooth coming through and her Ped said he didnt think she was teathing when were went for a visit two weeks ago. but i guess things change daily at this age so she could be teething I didnt even think of that.
I kept thinking what could shepossibly be having a nightmare about... someone stealing her milk?

Re: how early do babies have nightmares
Bella's been napping (finally!) in her swing for the past hour and she's been having crying outbursts while still fast asleep she doesn't wake up. She'll cry for like 2 seconds and then she's out again.
it's so weird!

Natalie does exactly that- but last night she had one that lasted more then 2 seconds- more like 10 seconds- which seems like alot to me!

Re: how early do babies have nightmares
DS does that too I think the proper name is night terrors. It is terrifying as a parent to not be able to comfort your child. DS has screamed for what felt like hours (probably only about 15 - 20 minutes). I actually started to cry one night along with him since I felt so helpless since I couldn't comfort him. Finally he just stopped as if nothing had even happened and was sleeping peacefully once again. I'm not sure that he was even awake at all even though I was rocking him, swinging, rubbing his back, etc.

Re: how early do babies have nightmares
Bern... cailen does that too....
I think sometimes he is thinking about trying to wake himself up, and then is too tired to get out of his sleep, but the crying is an attempt to wake up....
I read somewhere that right now, babies have a fear of falling! Like, being dropped, so maybe she is feeling a dropping sensation? Just a guess....
