A nice seat of headphones. Everyone and their mother has a smart phone these days and most of them are listening to music. My friend got me a nice set of headphones for Christmas one year and I never would've thought to buy that for anyone, but I really appreciated them. It's not something I necessarily would want to spend the money on myself but the quality was fantastic. they were Bose in-ear. It broke my heart when they eventually broke, but they lasted a good long time!

Photo books for grandparents of our little one and the family over the year.
I complain about making them every holiday season but the look on the grandmas' faces is priceless. It's a gift I know they truly appreciate. Especially since both don't take many photos themselves.

Lately my go to gifts have included:
A "designer" coffee cup (Vera Bradley, Lilly Pulitzer, Jonathan Adler, Pantone) with a photo DD gift card. Go to Dunkindonuts.com and it will reroute you to the page where you can upload photos. We use pictures of our daughter or I'll steal a pic off their facebook so I can put someone close to them on it.
Lolita wine glass with a gift certificate for a tasting at a vineyard
Something personalized or monogrammed
Family membership to a zoo, aquarium, or museum instead of individual gifts within a family

I love everything I receive that's personalized. I have ornaments, blankets, picture frames, wine stoppers, plaques etc.
A friend of mine gave me a basket with slippers, a robe, a bottle of wine and 2 wine glasses. I thought that was really cute.
The most creative gift I ever gave was to DH for Valentine's Day. I made him a 'boy-quet' and he loved it!

useful gifts... alcohol, socks, slippers, PJs, i know boring, but you can find some cute ones, and at least we know they are going to be used

I thought of one more...
One year for Xmas I gave one large family gift to all my siblings and in-laws. It included:
• Netflix gift cert for 3 months of service
• Big "popcorn" tub I got at the 99 cent store filled with
• several bags of microwave popcorn
• big candy bars
• mixed boxes candy you get at the movies
All wrapped up in cellophane with a big bow.

an assorted case of wine from someone how knows more about wine than we do.
a Harry & David gift basket that contained healthy stuff that I actually like & not the usual weird gift basket stuff like shelf stable sausage. I think it was the Applegate Classic.
(BTW-their double nut granola is delicious!)

I did this for my friend but I did a redbox GC instead and she loved it!

My family is out of state and that's who I've done this for but I know there are memberships for LICM, Atlantis Aquarium, and I believe the New York Zoos (I don't know which are included though). Usually you just go to the website and click "membership" or type it into the search bar. A lot of places are part of a network so that your membership can also get you into other places if you travel.
