Re: Newport, RI?
isn't that the place you can take the mansion tours?
i think that is where my mom went and she said they have a tour of mansions and there is the church jackie and JFK got married at. she said it is nice to see.
other than that i'm not sure.

Re: Newport, RI?
I LOVVVVEEEE Newport.
it's gorgeous and the mansion tours are there are a few restaurants on the main street by the water, and also shops. you really can't go wrong.
we've been mostly on day trips....normally I'd suggest a picnic lunch but it may be cold...maybe a hot chocolate behind one of the mansions by the water is in order.
have a GREAT time

My mom did this as well. She really enjoyed the trip & especially loved the mansion tours (wishful thinking I guess ). She also did some kind of biking trip, but she was there in the summer. I heard it was beautiful though. Have fun!

Re: Newport, RI?
The mansions are nice but there are only a few (4, I think) open during the winter. Winter's the slow season in Newport, so a lot of stuff may not be open.
For restaurants, the Black Pearl and the Brick Alley Pub are good for a casual meal. 21 Bowens is my favorite steakhouse.
