Newborn/Spit up

How much is normal in a newborn?

My DD is 6 weeks and has been spitting up more often then she did a couple of weeks ago. I am BFing and she spits up at every feeding when i burp her. Sometimes i feel like its a lot!

The past couple of days she has been really fussy while BFing so i am wondering if she has gas/reflux or maybe this is just normal? I have been trying to sit her up more often after feedings.

How old is your DC?
How often do they spit up?
How do you know if they have gas/reflux?

Guess I am just wondering if this is normal and also if I can diagnose gas or if i need to take her to doc.

Also- I have given her the gas drops and i cant tell if they work or not. Sometimes, i feel like they make her spit up alot more. TIA

Re: Newborn/Spit up

DD was a "happy spitter". Spit up A TON after every bottle, sometimes hours later. Dr. said we could put her on low dose of reflux meds but I decided not to. She is 11 months and still spits up at least once a day.

Gabriel was also spitting up a lot in the forst 6 weeks, It's been getting gradually better the past 2 weeks. The ped said its normal because babies have weak stomach muscles. He wasn't worried about reflux even though I was.

Re: Newborn/Spit up

Right around that age my DD started spitting up A LOT.
Almost like vomiitting up the whole bottle.
Dr told us to switch to an AR formula and it helped- but she still spits up.
Just not as much.
I know you are breastfeeding though- so maybe just ask the dr about possible acid reflux
The fact taht she is fussing while eating coudl be a sign.
My DD would fight the bottle and arch her back and practically launch herself off my lap!
