Newborn night sleep question

After I feed DD in the middle of the night and put her back in the basinet it seems to take her a while to get settled. She will be sleeping toward the end of nursing but once I put her down she'll move around a whine a bit before falling asleep. Did your LO do the same or did they stay asleep when yiu put them down?
ETA: she is 3 weeks old

Depended on the day. It's actually probably good that your DC doesn't nurse to sleep! Took me a year to break that habit.

I'm going through the same thing right now. Sometimes he's gassy if I put him down too soon. sorry I don't have answers either.

I honestly never was able to put DS down when he was a newborn cause he was crying 24/7.

There is not right or wrong. Each and every baby will be different. Roll with it. If they are fine then let it be.

My son is 3 months old and does that..as long as they go back to sleep on their own its good because they are learning how to self soothe.

Re: Newborn night sleep question

I guess when she's fussing I'm just questioning if she has gas or needs to eat more. In the middle of the night when I want to go back to sleep I always question how long I should let her fuss before I do something Chat Icon

I would be feeling very luck with the situation you're describing. I have never been able to put my kids down and have them get themselves to sleep. They'd either need to be in a deep, deep sleep or to have motion. They didn't self sooth until much, much later.

You can always try a little more food. If she's not hungry she won't eat. Unless she's screaming crying I wouldn't worry about it.

Jillian is 6w on Monday and she does this sometimes too. She'll take a few more sips of formula but then she stops and falls asleep. She takes a long time to burp in the middle of the night so I usually try to burp her again if she's fussy for too long.

Normal. I'd let her fuss as long as she needs to. Fussing is fine, not full out crying. I'd tend to her if she's actually crying.
