Newborn napper on Pack n Play vs. the bassinet feature.
DH and I don't plan on getting a bassinet. We plan on using the pack n play in the beginning for the baby to sleep in if we don't feel comfortable putting him in the crib right away. Question is....most of the pack in plays have a bassinet feature (which i believe is a piece that adds a mattress and makes the surface higher up...it is the size of the whole pack n play. Is this sufficient to have the baby sleep in? Or should we register for the pack n play with the infant napper? The ones with the infant napper are of course more expensive. Which is fine by me...but again, I don't want to expect my friends or family to spend more than they have to if they are considering buying it.
here is a pic of what I mean....
infant napper
just the bassinet feature (see how it's raised up and it has the bumper?)
I asked in the store and they said they dont think graco makes just the infant napper to attach seperately, we would have to call graco to see b/c they dont sell it in the store

We got the second one, we figured the baby won't be in the bassinet feature long so there realy isn't a need for it.

The second one is fine in my opinion. I think that the first one with the napper will be useful in the VERY beginning, but I don't know about you, I'd be afraid to keep the baby in their once he/she started to move since it's up so high.

I would go with something like the second one. I had originally registered for the exact 2nd one you have, but all the reviews for the same style travel system said the fabric made the baby sweat very bad, so I change to this style for both. I had read someone else on here did the same thing for the same reason. It is the Townsend

It depends what you are comfortable with. The first one goes from infant napper, to bassinet, then to pack & play. The second just has the bassinet, & pack & play option. We went with the first style w/ the newborn napper. I felt it would be better for the first couple weeks when they are so tiny.

We did the same exact thing. I am hoping the DS likes it. If not we will just take the newborn napper part out. I want as many options as possible for him to sleep in. Plus I think it can't hurt to have it as an option.

Ohhh I can actually comment on this. My ds was small and when we went to put him in the PNP bassinette portion he completly freaked even swaddled because it was just to big of a space. He slept in his FP soothing glider (turned off) for the first month or two. So we chose the napper since we didn't have to have the FP soothing glider and it came with the PNP. Plus whats the price diff like $40?? How much is a bassinet?

Re: Newborn napper on Pack n Play vs. the bassinet feature.
we have the first one - just so you know it has both a napper and a bassinet underneath
my son spent the first four weeks sleeping in the napper - he was much more comfortable in that than the bassinet part of the pack and play
the only downfall to that one is that the changing table is smaller - so if you are going to use the changing table often i would recomend the second one
but the vibrating feature is nice- it attaches to the napper or the bassinet - it was good when he was young and also now at 4 months if his belly upsets it feelsgood to lay him on his belly witht he vibrating feature in the bassinet part
