New to this board
Hello all.
Here is my deal in a nut shell…..DH and I have been trying for 8 months and nothing. I have been tracking my cycle and using clear blue easy to really know when I am ovulating….and nothing. My DH really has baby fever and pushed me to go to my GYNO. I was very surprised, upset and scared when he suggested we see a fertility doctor. We had our first visit with Dr. Rosenfeld on the 1st. He is very nice….but right away started with all the tests….and this is scaring me. I went for my blood work this morning and on Tuesday I have to go for HSG. DH had to do “his test” this week also. I began Temping this week because AF arrived. It’s just so much and I am feeling very overwhelmed. I am 31 DH is 34 I did not think it would be this hard to get PG. I feel like I am going through this all alone (DH is amazing) but sometime I need a girl to talk to…all my friends had little ones so it’s hard. So if I have to vent or ask questions I might pop in from time to time…I hope you all don’t mind.
I am a 06 bride but I rather not say my name on the board because there are women I work with on here and they have no clue what I am going through and I want to keep it that way. But please feel free to FM me anytime and we can chat privately.
To you all!

Just want to wish you luck and send you some
The HSG is not too bad, just make sure to take a couple of Advil about an hour before the test.
Good luck to you, even though it seems intimidating right now, the testing is necessary to find out exactly what is going on.

Re: New to this board
i just went to him on the 2nd!!! and i left there more confused than ever. he set me up for the same tests too but i do not think i am ready to do the hsg so i am going to cancel. i went there under the impression that it was my DH with the problem, because he is seeing a urologist who deals with male infertility. dr rosenfeld disregarded his test results......and im hesitant to go foward with tests just for the sake of it. im going to do the bloodwork and temping and dh will finish his tests with the urologist and i think we'll take it from there. im just not confortable with having tests thrown at me.

Re: New to this board
I just wanted to add this cuz I learned the hard way.
We went to an RE for almost a year who did NOT do an HSG or water sono. When I asked about having them done he said they weren't necessary, I was a classic PCOS patient. I went through eight IUI's with them, none successful. Then we switched to the RE I am seeing now and he was first off, shocked that the previous Dr. had not done an HSG or Water Sone and when HE did the HSG - my tubes are both blocked. I could have done 50 IUI's with the original RE and had no success.
My point is that if you get ALL the testing out of the way immediately, you know exactly what is going on and can deal with it from there. At least you have everything on the table and know what you are dealing with.

Re: New to this board
Thank you all for your responses….I actually felt he was being a bit aggressive with all the tests right away. But I guess it’s better to know right away then wait. I just did not expect it, especially on my first visit to him.
Thanks again!

Re: New to this board
Hi there, just wanted to welcome you, and hope your stay is short. In the beginning it is incredibly overwhelming. I think we all began the babymaking process thinking it would not be that hard, but its amazing to see just how many people need intervention to make their dreams comes true. Some much harder than others even. In the end though, its still a struggle physically and emotionally. This board is a good place to talk about it, there is amazing women here, that have more knowlegde than they should, but are still willing to help others.
I send lots of your way.

Welcome to the boards. You will find so much support here! Everyone is amazing. I agree with Gerty. It is overwhelming at the beginning. But get all these tests out of the way so you know exactly what you are dealing with and you can get treatment to get your BFP! good luck!

I had the same experience during my first RE visit (although not with Dr. R), the list of tests to take and why etc. It is indeed overwhelming, but IMHO, why spend any time without analyzing the entire picture first??

I had a very similar situation and I wasted a very valuable year ( I am now delaing with high FSH at 38) Gerty is right - do as many tests as you can now and then make you decisions
ps - welcome and I hope you have a short stay here
Ironically I was at NS today - I had a consult with Dr Scholl....maybe I saw you

Re: New to this board
i guess i should have said that i am hesitant for two reasons...one i already have a 3 year old son and two he disregarded my husbands abnormal semen analysis. not everyone has the same situation. i just dont want to subjuct myself to tests if right now dh is the one who seems to have the issue and has not completed all his testing yet. i dont like too much too soon....bad bad anxiety!!!

Re: New to this board
Welcome, I hope your stay here is a short one.
I too used to see Dr. Rosenfeld, and I think he is wonderful, I am now under the care of Dr. Scholl.
I know the tests may seem a little overwhelming, but they are necessary, I too wasted time at another practice and DEARLY wish that I hadn't.
The HSG isn't bad, take some painkillers beforehand, you'll feel a bit of cramping. I am so glad that I did it, as I found out I had a blocked left tube, which Dr. Rosenfeld was then able to partially clear.
Good luck

This sounds like me! I went to Scholl b/c DH had an issue! After 1year of IUI's every month they decide to do the HSG and the saw a "pallop" so I had laproscopy. The "pallop" turned out to be nothing but we found out that my lining does not totally clean out every month so there is no way anything could implant on my walls!!! Dr. R cleaned it out and 2 months later I was pregnant with my DH!

Well 1st, if you are not comfortable with your Dr you should switch. BUT most Dr's will have a protocol toi test BOTH partner and that inclused the HSG. GL
