New to Board/ Sleeping in Crib 1st time??

Hi Ladies.... My DS was born Nov. 25. I was on the Preganancy board, but didn't reall post too much.

This board has helped me alot already and now I have another question....

When did you start putting DC in their crib to sleep at night??

My DS is 7 weeks old and doesn't fit in the bassinet anymore, because he rotates his body at night. We tried last night to put him in the crib and he whined for awhile and it broke my heart....

How did you ladies do it??

Thank you...

Re: New to Board/ Sleeping in Crib 1st time??

We started the day DD turned 6 weeks old for the night time. About a week before that I started putting her in there for naps (it wasn't too successful though). She moved around a lot too and I was nervous there wasn't enough room in her bassinet. I know when they are so small fussing kills us but it won't kill them. Be consistent, they adapt pretty quick if they know what to expect.

Both DC went in the crib the first night they were home. For us, it made it easier for us to sleep, and it was one less transition to put DC through. We had the sound monitor, so we could hear them better when they were in a different room!

Re: New to Board/ Sleeping in Crib 1st time??

We waited until last saturday when he was 14 weeks old. It was pretty seamless. He seems to sleep better and so do we. You might try putting him in his crib for naps so he gets used to the view, that way it won't seem so foreign when he wakes up or opens his eyes when changing sleep cycles. We did this a couple of times. It was harder for us to put him in his own room that for him. See how it goes, don't assume it will necessarily be bad. GL!

My DS went in at 3 weeks for overnights. I personally feel it is easier to do it sooner rather than later.

Thank you ladies...

I had been trying to put him in the crib for at least one nap a day (doesn't work out so well). So I tried it again today and he has been out for about 40 min.... cross your fingers...

We put Sen in the crib from the beginning - I just felt it was one less thing to transition for both of us ........
He was fine.

I think 'we' worry about this stuff more than they even notice it !!

DD started sleeping in her crib from day one. Her room was right next door to ours so it wasn't that bad.
