New sleeping problem...advice please!

My DD was a lovely sleeper...fell asleep during her nightime bottle and I put her in her bassinett...not a peep. Same for the 5am feeding...went right back down.
NOW she wakes at the end of each bottle, wide eyed. She cries, I cant get her to sleep in her bassinett for more then 15 min. I have to hold her and do whatever it takes to make her really sleepy and THEN put her down. Last night it took 2 hours after her bottle to finally go down.
Is this possibly reflux? How do you know? Her nightime bottles are formula.
How long does it usually take to get your DC to finally sleep?

Do you think 7oz is too much at one feeding for a 6 week old?

No advice, but just wanted to let you know that my DD is just like this. She takes FOREVER to get back to sleep after a feeding. I usually sleep with her in my arms on the couch after her 4 am feeding because she will not go back to sleep in the bassinet.

Re: New sleeping problem...advice please!

From 6-8 weeks the ONLY way we could get DS back down after the night waking was in the swing. Otherwise we were up for 2 hours trying to get him down just to have him wake up an hour later Chat Icon At his 2 month visit the ped thought he might have some mild reflux (I really think most babies have some degree of it). So I did a little research and decided to start giving him a little cereal before bed to helo prevent the reflux. I also put him on his belly to sleep as I had heard that helps with the reflux babies. As soon as we started doing this he was able to sleep in his crib all night and would only wake once at 2am. By 11 weeks he was sleeping 12 hours at night. It's all trial and error in finding out what your baby likes though. good luck Chat Icon

ETA- at 16 weeks my ped told me 8oz at a time is way too much for their little bellies. Try giving 6 oz more often during the day. Also for us when DS was that age the RTF filled him up much better then the powder.

Did it only begin at 6 weeks for you too? Before this she was fine!
I currently use powder. The RTF worked better for you?
And as for the feed her more 6oz bottles during the day...you think I should be increasing the other bottles or deducting oz from her last feeding?

Re: New sleeping problem...advice please!

LOL, our DD are the same age! She seems to go down for 4-5 hours, take a bottle, go back with a little help..the second feeding is a nightmare! Up forever and will only go back to sleep in our bed, shoot me. She is literally wide awake. I was told that they are adjusting to a longer sleep schedule around this time and can get a little screwed up until they adjust to a longer stretch.
Reflux is totally different, they have piercing screams and are in pain as they eat and after..my dd has a milk allergy and we went through 2 solid weeks of the screaming around the clock, throwing up, and utter pain. Since then, she is getting much better on a new formula. If you notice a ton of crying during the feeding and after and misery, that could be reflux..
She also has to be swaddled to sleep, i notice if i dont, she is up every 30 minutes..she feels more secure and has such a startle reflex it is impossible to keep her to sleep otherwise!
I feed her about 5 ounces at a time and she weighs close to 11pounds. That is at night, during the day i feed her more frequently but less amounts..seems to have helped her reflux. She burps better too! Also, i have to give her mylicon with some of the feedings when i notice gas, they pull their little legs up and get fussy...
I tell you, these 6 weeks i have read and been to the doc every week! I am just glad she doesnt scream all day and night anymore..also, reflux can build up before it gets really bad, she didnt really show symptoms of it before 4 weeks and nor to the milk allergy IMO-4 weeks on was a nightmare of screams, throw up and there were days she was unable to eat much at all...she lost about a half a pound in one week but then started to gain well again, she is a big girl!! But if the baby is thriving well, the docs dont worry as much. l also have her on axid but dont give it to her as much, she hates it and i am not sure it helps that much...
