NEW ROOF - who and how much $??

If you have recently done your roof and bought a new roof who did you use and how much, roughly, did it cost you? My parents are shopping. They have rec'd three estimates and they are SO different from each other.

Just curious - who and how much??

We just had our new roof done in May when we moved in. We went with all pro roofing. we got estimates from 8,000-15,000

its hard to base it on what others pay because it really depends on if what they get.
just get new shingles on top of other ones
or you may need all layers ripped off and new shingles
or you could need all layers ripped off, the wood replaced where rotten and then new shingles
or you could need all ripped off, new wood on the entire thing and new shingles

then is also depends on the size of the roof

It would be really hard to base it on what others paid unless you know exactly what they need and then compare to someone who had the same thing done and has roughly the same size

I only say this because we are eventually going to need a new roof and I started trying to figure it out myself and quickly realized its really hard to go based on what someone else paid unless we are getting the same thing on the same size roof

I got quotes from $6900 - $9200. I have a split and live in Bellmore. I am going with Preferred Exterior upon recommendations from LIF. The roof is being installed in a few weeks. Send me FM if you'd like more info. GL

I have a split level home, all take off and redone, $5800

He did my parents house, my SIL and we used him cause he was so good.

I don't know what KIND of roof or anything like that but I know my dad is very handy and very picky about the stuff he chooses - I know he wants something quality.

He had three people in - one was terrible, the guy was a moron and gave him a quote of like 16 thousand. Then, the second guy quoted around 14 and said he would come down to 11. The third guy (the first two were private roofing companies) but the third came from Lowes. He really knew his roofing information lol! My dad knows a lot about it and said he was really on the ball about everything. He quoted I think around 8 grand.

Anywho, they guarantee it (repairs, problems, etc) for I *think* something like 15-20 years. They have a service guarantee and this was to rip off the old roof (the house's original roof - just one layer) and put on a whole new one. They want architectural.

He gave him the lowest price out of all of them (by a good amount) and will give him 10% off on top of that b/c he is a veteran.

I think they like this best - my Dad is very happy with the price.

Next: windows for the entire back of the house. Then: brand new kitchen and appliances.
