New mom . with a couple of questions
Hi everyone
new mom here
had my baby girl may 27th, sharing a bday with sweets13 babygirl also who happens to be a good friend :)
couple of questions i have if your ladies can help.
1-c section moms do you feel numb around the area of your stitches
2- how long do you bleed for after birth
3-the past few days dd has been grunting ALOT . anyone had this?
4-newborns now. what do you have them wearing? full sleepers or onesies or both?
5-weight loss-
when did you start exercising?
how much weight came off in what period of time ?
i gained 70lbs and lost 30 so far since birth(but i had pre eclampsia so that was all water weight) have another 40 but would like 50
6-birth announcements- when did you send them out?
sorry for all the questions but i am new at this

1. n/a
2. About 2 weeks, it got less as time went by - not as bad as in the hospital
3. Not really a grunter, my DS made a wheezing/whistling noice when he breathed - doc said it was b/c air tubes were so small. I wouldn't be too concerned but you might want to bring it up to doc at next visit (maybe record it on cell phone in case dd doesn't do it for doc
4. i guess it depends on how warm your house is, if they are inside/outside. I would prob keep in onsie and cotton pants. also, depends if dd is wrapped ina blanket. doc said rule of thumb is one layer more then you have on. my ds is 16 mos and HATES blankets so I have to dress him a little warmer at night.
5 - I'll let you know
6- about 2-3 months - i think you have 6 months - that's what i read on here.

1. yes, expect incision to feel numb for a bit.
2. everyone is different, but I bled for 6 weeks I think.
3. grunting is normal
4. my guys is almost 5mos, so i put him in s/s footless PJs on warmer nights, and then his sleep sack.
5. My weight came off very quickly - in about 2-4 weeks it was off - mainly b.c I was so swollen and was on a GD diet.

I only gained 18 pounds. 28 pounds came off in about 4 weeks. I began walking at 4 weeks post birth
6-birth announcements- when did you send them out? 6 weeks after

Congrats and welcome to the other side...
1. Yes, I felt numb around the area for quite some time. I'm 7 months pp and it still feels weird.
2. I bled for about a month.
3. My first son snorted/grunted in the beginning...it went away.
4. I would put my first son (who was born in June) in a onesie and then swaddle him in a blanket at night. We always have the central air on in the summer, so I dressed him warm at night.
5. 6 weeks I went for my check up and got the ok to work out. I lost the weight in about 5 months, with the help of a personal trainer for the first one. The second pregnancy, I lost the weight after about 5 months again.
6. I sent out birth announcements a month after Nikolas was born. Since I made my own, I had the design all made and when I took a picture of him, I just popped it in and sent them out to be printed.

Yep! Totally normal. From what I understand, you will feel numb for QUITE a while!

I bled for about four weeks :(

My DD grunted A LOT when she was a newborn. She's now almost 12 weeks, and still does it occasionally. Totally normal.
4-newborns now. what do you have them wearing? full sleepers or onesies or both?
My DD sleeps in a short sleeved onesie and then is swaddled in her miracle blanket.
5-weight loss-
when did you start exercising? Exercise?? What's that? :-P

I wound up gaining 55 pounds due to preeclampsia. I am 11 1/2 weeks PP and have lost 45 pounds. It came off VERY quickly once the preeclampsia went away.
6-birth announcements- when did you send them out?
I sent them out about a month after DD was born (took a while to get my butt in gear and get them out!).

yea, my DS was kinda "backed up" until we started him on Gentlease, then that stopped

Yes, I did. 1 year later the scar is still numb.

I bled A LOT! 6 week HEAVY bleeding for me.

Yep, DS grunted a lot also.

DS was born last May also. He slept in the long sleeved shirts from the hospital or long sleeved onesie, and then his legs were wrapped in a blanket (loosely swaddled)

Started walking right away. Real exercise, more like 7 months post partum. I have now lost all but 2 lbs 1 year post partum. I gained 56 lbs, lost 22 by the time I came home from the hospital, and was down 46 (10 lbs over) for a LOOONG time. The last 10 lbs did not want to go away!
6-birth announcements- when did you send them out?
Before he was 2 weeks old. I took pics at 6 days old, ordered them the same day, and had everything mailed a few days later.

First of all congrats! Here are my answers

Yup and still do! Its been 4 months next week. But the stitches are healing well and the scarring has been minimal.
2- how long do you bleed for after birth?
I bled about two weeks and then had discharge like stuff for another 2.
3-the past few days dd has been grunting ALOT . anyone had this?
All babies grunt- totally normal.
4-newborns now. what do you have them wearing? full sleepers or onesies or both?
Had both babies in full sleepers but they were winter babies. Onesies are fine when its hotter.
5-weight loss-
when did you start exercising?
started walking longer distances at the 6 week point and went back to the gym at 8 weeks.
how much weight came off in what period of time ?
I gained about 30 and lost all of it plus a couple of pounds. But I work out 4 days a week and watch what I eat. I am still actively breastfeeding too.
6-birth announcements- when did you send them out?
I sent them out about 6 weeks after he was born.

My son grunts like a mad man. He is 9 weeks old.

I had him in a full sleeper from the beginning.

I started working out a week ago when DS was 8 weeks old.

I gained 25 pounds total and have lost all but 5 of them. Now that I am working out it will come off quicker(I hope). I also started restricting my snacks again like I used to before being pregnant.

Still have not done this.

No, not really, but then again, I try not to look at it much. I only feel it when I clean it with peroxide.

I'm almost 4 weeks post birth and I still get a little light bleeding.

Yes, my DD is very squirmy, wiggly and makes LOTS of noise, moistly in her sleep.

The weather is warmer right now, I have her in onesies and light pants or sleepers. It depends on the day, the weather has been erratic.

I gained about 50 pounds and was borderline pre-enclampsia. I lost 30 already and on nice days I take DD for walks in her stroller. This week (week 4) I plan on getting out my fitness ball and using that as well.

At her 3 week mark.

1- Didn't have one so I can't help you there.
2- I bled for about 5 weeks.
3- DS never grunted, but he arched his back a lot due to reflux.
4- DS was a spring baby and he slept in a onesie and a pair of socks. Occasionally, he's sleep in a thin gown.
5- I didn't get around to exercising, but all the weight plus an extra 5 pounds came off by pumping milk.
6- We never sent an announcement in the mail. We just told people online in a mass e-mail.

Congratulations!!!
1-yes totally normal, I'm 7 months post partum and still have a little numbness at my incision
2-6 wks
3-totally normal, my DS did this a lot too
4-usually lightweight pjs or if its extra warm a onesie. when AC is on full sleepers with feet
5-I lost the majority of the weight a couple of weeks after my c-section but my belly didn't go down for a couple of months
6-I sent out birth announcements 1 month later, I delivered right before the holidays so worked on them earlier than I probably would have to get them out before christmas.

Mattea wore alot of short sleeve onesies since it was VERY hot this time last year. For bedtime, she was swaddled and wore a short sleeve onesie

My DD was born only 4 days before your DC on May 23rd. This is my 2nd  (I also have a 23.5 month old).
1) Yes, this is my second section and it is TOTALLY normal for your incision to be numb as well as the surrounding area.
2) It depends on the person with DD #1 I bleed on and off for 7-8 weeks - but I didn't get my AF until 8.5 months b.c I was EBF.
3) No DD doesn't grunt a lot but I think many newborns do this and it is perfectly normal.
4) We have been putting DD so far in either long sleeve shirts with footed pants outfits or I have several Little Me gowns that turn into one piece outfits with legs depending on how you button them. Our house has been cool though (about 70 degrees) it is going to warm up soon so I will probably be using more onesies and blankets soon.
5) Well I think I'm an exception - with DD#1 I lost 40 lbs (30 by the time I left the hospital and 10 lbs within a week after leaving the hospital) - but that was all the weight I gained with DD. I did have pre-eclampsia both pregnancies. With this recent pregnancy - I only gained 12-13 lbs TOTAL BUT I have already lost about 37-38 lbs. I had post partum thyroiditis with DD#1 so I think that might be part of it - as well as the fact that I did retain water with this pregnancy b.c I was preeclampsic again.
6) I did a photo shoot with Ava Jack last wed - so I'm just waiting for all of the photos - to determine which ones I want to use - then as soon as I review them all I will pick out a few and do the announcements right away.

1. I had a vag birth- sorry!
2. I bled for about 6 weeks.
3. My DD grunted at night until she was about 10 weeks old, many newborns do.
4. Depends on how your newborns temp is. My DD is a very hot baby [just like her daddy] so I dressed her in a short sleeved onesie and a swaddle me. When we stopped swaddling, she is in footie pjs and a sleep sack. Plus I keep her room cool.
5. I was told I could start exercising at my 6 week check up with my OB. Having a csection may require more time to heal. When you go for your 6 week appt, ask the OB when you are in the clear. It would be no sooner than this.
6. I sent out my announcements 10 days after DD was born. I did them when she was taking a nap. I used a pic I had taken of her in the NICU and got them made up at Costco. Great price and really easy!

Awe... our kids are a day apart. Mason was born on the 28th
1 - also had a c-section and it's not numb. More tender
2 - 2 weeks and still bleeding, but not as much as last week. I'll go all day not bleeding then boom... a lot comes out. So sporadic, but a lot less
3 - yup, Mason grunts a lot too
4 - onsies during the day and sleeer at night b/c it's easier to change him
5 - gained 22 pounds and lost it all. Doc said I can exercise next week since I'm healing well. Excercised my entire pregnancy
6 - just ordered ours yesterday so will probably send it next week
