New Here and have a few questions...
Hey ladies I'm new here and just wanted to ask a few questions.
You all seem very helpful and I was wondering if someone could help me.
My dh and I have had numerous tests done, hysteroscopy, hsg, progesterone, my dh was tested and everything was fine. All of my tests were clear as well however we've been trying for a year now with no luck.
I chart, use opk's every month and now my DR wants to put me on clomid the next time I go back. My question is this...isn't clomid used to make you ovulate? Is it possible to get LH surges and have a progesterone test come back as having "ovulated" without releasing an egg? I don't go back to my dr. until the end of the month and was just looking for some insight before then.

Hi Alex, you are asking a great question.
If your charts, your opks, and your progesterone test, all indicate ovulation, you you most definitely are ovulating. However, what clomid can do, is increase the follicular growth. In other words, help you produce more mature follicules, so that when you do ovulate, you ovulate with more 'eggs' and more "corpus luteum". Sometimes it's the boost from the extra corpus luteum that you may need. You also have more of a chance of conceiving because there may be multiple eggs. It's really the next step in the protocol, IUI may be done as well.

Is it your OBGYN prescribing it. I would see an RE, they monitor you very closely. I know when I started Clomid I had day 3 blood and sono, then again at day 10 because Clomid can also thin the uterine lining and I guess they wanna make sure you dont have too many eggs. They also sometimes do IUI with Clomid because sometimes it can also effect the CM.

AH this makes so much more sense to me now. I just wasn't sure why he wanted to put me on clomid if I was in fact ovulating..I was unaware that it helped like that. thanks so much..

yes my obgyn wants to prescribe it. An RE is something I was considering also, I just wasn't sure who. I don't know anyone who's ever been to one. I see in a prior post they name a few so I may just make an appt. It makes sense that it should be monitored. thank you!
