New Here

I was doing some research online, and stumble into this site. I really love the warm and inviting feeling on this board, and would like to join everyone here. Chat Icon

DH and I have been TTC for 1.5 years now, and we started seeing a RE back in July. I was diagnosed with Endometriosis, and DH was diagnosed with Varicocele. We are on the 2WW for our 3rd (and last) round of Natural IUI. And just to add more excitement into the picture, on the last sono before our 3rd IUI, NP found possible Polyp in my uterus. Yup, this is my luck!!! Chat Icon

You can say that I am pessimistic, but I just don’t have a good feeling about this cycle. We are considering these 2 options for our next step:
1. Have DH go through surgery to fix Varicocele and hopefully his solders are up to the task for another couple of rounds of IUI (or even TTC on our own).
2. Go directly into IVF.

Is anyone’s DH had experience with surgery to fix Varicocele? Did it help the quality of the sperm after the surgery? Which route would you go for? Please let me know your take!

Best of luck to everyone on this board.

I don't have any experience with a Varicocele but I also have endo and just had three polyps removed. Getting the polyp removed is no big deal. I'm assuming you already had a lap for the endo. Best of luck in your journey.

ETA: Also ask your RE about testing for immune issues. Many women with endo have immune issues. I have APS which is treated with Lovenox.

Re: New Here

Thank you all for the welcome!

I actually did not have a lap done. My RE did not even suggest to have it done. I guess it's because I have early stage of Endo, and both of my tubes are open...? But I will definitely discuss this with him as soon as I get my AF this time.

Re: New Here

My dh has bi-lateral vericoceles. we chose not to get it fixed. i have heard the surgery is painful and doesnt increase your odds that much, plus it takes 6 months to a year to see results. We are just not willing to wait.

we are doing iui's with clomid. would you consider that? it makes a better follicle and maybe give you more than one chance. You can also try injectibles and iui's. there are some options, check with your RE.

I hope you figure it all out soon. This board does have a lot of info on it! Good Luck to you!

Re: New Here

DH skipped the surgery also, but we only did IVFs after knowing he needed it.

IMO we wanted to try IVF with ICSI before DH having the surgery.

Welcome to the board, I hope your stay is short and good luck to you!

Re: New Here

Thank you all.

We are leaning more towards the idea of IVF as well. We are seeing Dr. K in LIIVF, and hopefully he will lead us towards the right direction! Chat Icon
