New Guidelines for visits in the 3rd trimester

Anyone hear about new guidelines falling into place about the spacing of visits (i.e. used to be go every two weeks at 32/34 weeks, once a week at 36 weeks)? my friend is going more often than I am and said there are new guidelines? I am 30 weeks and will not go back until I am 34, then I will go two weeks later, then once a week. Just curious.

I'm pretty sure each doctor makes the guidelines, so I don't think there's some governing board that makes these decisions. There is a general guideline, but certainly nothing that is set in stone.

The only thing different that I have from you is after 30 weeks, I went at 32, then 34, and after 36 go every week (so essentially one extra visit).

I am 26 weeks and will start going every 2 weeks as of 28 weeks. I think each doctor is different.

It slightly different from one dr. to another but really similar.

Unless you have a medical condition (GD, high risk PG, etc..), it's every 4 weeks until about 28-30 wks. Then it's every 2 weeks until 36 wks or so then it's every week until EDD.

I think it depends on the doc.

With both pg's I went monthly up until 28 weeks, then it went to bimonthly. At 36 weeks it becomes weekly.

My SIL who just had a baby, went monthly up until 28 weeks, then every 3 weeks til 37 weeks whereas the visits turned weekly.

My dr office i was monthly till 28 weeks, then went back at 30 and every 2 weeks until i get to 36, then it will be weekly.

I have been going weekly since 34.5 weeks. before that maybe I one 2 week separation and then it was 3 weeks (which I didn't have last time) and before that the 4 weeks.


I do know that NYS is mandating another HIV test in the 3rd trimester.

it depends on the doc and the practice
I just changed to midwives and they say you how ever often they feel they need to it depends on the person

i am 28 weeks and am still doing my regular monthly visits no change in the visits yet. i was there yesterday
