New breastfeeding mommy question
So me and my DD just got home today and today hasn't been a great nursing day. She was doing awesome since day one and today not so good. She went from feeding 30-40mins total every 2 and a half hour to 3 hrs to 10-15 mins total between the two breasts. She is making the right amount of wet/BM diapers. Should I be worried yet? She has been sleeping non stop! I've tried everything to wake her up and nothing seems to work. I just want to make sure she has enough in her belly. She hasn't been crying like she's starving. She's very content. Any words of advice
thank you girls!!

Re: New breastfeeding mommy question
I just went through this. I came home from the hospital this past Friday. He was BFing fine in the hospital and then we came home and everything changed. My pediatrician said that he is doing fine, not to worry to much. DS is just eating smaller amounts in less time. Hopefully it will space itself out soon.

First off congrats!!!!!
Don't worry. While babies USUALLY take a few weeks/months to become efficient nursers as long as she is happy and has the correct amount of wet and poopy diapers you are fine!!! You may have a quick learner!
At 5 months old my daughter nurses now in 5-7 min!
GREAT JOB MAMA!!!

Re: New breastfeeding mommy question
Same here - Yael started in the hospital at about 30 minutes for nursing. Ever since we went home, though, she became so much more efficient and her nursing sessions are about 15 minutes.
Some babies are just more efficient at nursing than others - as long as there are a sufficient number of wet and poopy diapers, there is no reason to be concerned.

Re: New breastfeeding mommy question
I wouldn't worry... they become very efficient eaters. I got worried a little later on (around 2 months) because Chloe went from eating 5 min on each side to about 3 minutes.. At 6 months it's old hat for her and she will eat quick if she wants to or hang out and relax other times Ped said she is totally fine, just efficient. Like you said, she's having enough pee and poop diapers which is great.
