Re: Neocate
I paid out of pocket for months!
BTW, if you don't have luck getting it covered, I am selling a case of 4 at a discount from the online price. My DD has been off of it for a few months. Let me know if you're interested. I really hope you are able to get it covered though! Did you try appealing the decision, and sending in the letter of medical necessity?

Re: Neocate
It worked as far as her no longer testing positive for blood in her stool, but her intake was never great. She typically never drank more than 5 oz at a time, and never more than 20 oz a day, with the exception of 1-2 weeks when she was 7 months old when she drank 7 oz bottles. She's still like that with milk. Just not a drinker!

Re: Neocate
Yes, that's where we got it from. I didn't find any better prices. I am so glad that we're done with it. What an expense!

Re: Neocate
I thought that NYS had a law that if there's a medical necessity for a specific type of food, it MUST be covered by insurance... Also, make sure you are fighting with your medical insurance carrier, not your prescription insurance carrier.

some nys health insurances have 'grandfather clauses'- thats how they get themselves excluded from this.

Re: Neocate
Yep that's exactly what I'm doing, they tell you it's not covered via perscription coverage but I am fighting tooth and nail for this. It's insanity that this wouldn't be covered, even a portion. I find it a complete travesty (for lack of a better word) on the ins co for making it so hard

Re: Neocate
Neocate is vile. My insurance would have paid for it, but my son would not drink it. Dr gave us a sample of Nutramigen AA(also amino acid formula) and he drank it.My Dr wrote a letter to the insurance co. stating it was a medical necessity and they covered it.
