Need your help ladies

So our two year old has been sleeping with us since day one. Mostly because my DH worked midnights and iot was easier for me that way. Bad Idea!!!! We have recently been trying to transition him into his own bed. I put his matress on my floor next to me bed, it was a no go. We have tried to put him in his own bed several times for that matter and each time we give up. I know I have to stick with it, but I do not like to hear him cry, especially when he is crying for me. I am going to try again tonight, but do you mommies have any advice for me???? I need my bed back, me and DH need private time..wink...wink.

Edited for spelling.

Is he movable when he's sleeping? You could let him fall asleep in your bed and move him to his own.

Have you tried laying down in his bed with him then leaving when he's asleep?

Have you tried transitioning him by reading a bedtime story in his bed? Does he have a nightlight?

A two years old - it would take about 2-3 weeks of crying to get him in his own bed. You could set a deadline for him. Tell him tomorrow, you need to go to sleep in your own bed.

Re: Need your help ladies

Can DH bear to listen to him cry? I had a real problem letting DS CIO, so when he was going to sleep, I got in the car and drove around. DH promised to go in every five mins. and comfort him until he fell asleep, and it worked. He would call me in the car when I could come home. When he transitioned to a bed, DH would lie on the floor next to him until he fell asleep. Then leave when he was sleeping. Again, I would go to the car on the really bad nights. Good luck!Chat Icon

No advice because I would be in the same boat as you and probably letting her sleep with us until she decided not you.
I know a lot of my friends co sleep long term and they just get the Chat Icon Chat Icon time in other rooms of the house. Is this possible or do you have to actually go to bed with you son for him to stay asleep? I was acutally sad that we didn't get to keep DD in our room longer. She was happier in her own room and slept much better, go figure.

I've never gone through this myself, but I've seen it on super nanny!

I think maybe if you set a routine all in his room....a few books, some cuddle/talk time, and then go from there. I think it will be rough but if you are diligent eventually it should all work out.
