Need table food ideas for an almost 11 month old.
This girl wants nothing to do with jars anymore so little by little I have been introducing her to table foods and I need some ideas. She gags on everything (even the jarred food that isn't chunky) so I'm finding this hard.....I never had this problem with my older DD. So please give me your suggestions for breakfast lunch and dinner. Also, can I now try scrambled eggs or am I supposed to wait until she is over a year?

Re: Need table food ideas for an almost 11 month old.
My ped gave us the okay for whole eggs at DD's 10 month appt.
My ped suggested starting with pancakes, french toast, white fish, scrambled eggs.
Scrambled eggs avocado I used to for DD#1 - make my own chicken stock (so no sodium) and then I would steam carrots and cut them into tiny pieces and boil pastina or other very tiny pasta in the stock, and then you can add in other vegetables cut into very very tiny pieces. I remember with DD#1 my ped recommended things like hamburger meats (ground turkey or chicken too) b/c you can mash it into very very tiny pieces and DD did better with those then when I cooked a plain piece of flattened chicken breast then diced that up.
I have a good chicken meatball recipe that you cook it in broth so it doesn't get as hard which DD#1 loved.
Cheeses fruits (DD#1 liked cantaloupe)

Re: Need table food ideas for an almost 11 month old.
My son is 11 months and I am trying to steer away from jarred baby food. He eats it perfectly fine but want to introduce more table foods for him. So far we have tried the following:
Cheesy Egg. Scrabled egg(very very scrambled) with melted american cheese. He eats about 1/4 of it but its a start.
Pastina with peas and tomato sauce.
He LOVES cupcakes! No frosting...for a snack of course.
Mashed potatoes
brocolli (very small)
chicken cutlet (thin strand) but he is finding it very hard to "gum" it and finding it hard to swallow.
Yogurt...LOVES the YoBaby!
My son wont feed homself yet but at his age my daughter was holding cut up apples and scrapping off the apple with her teeth. A really good snack.
can't think of anything else right now...looking for some suggestions myself. hope this helped.

Re: Need table food ideas for an almost 11 month old.
I have altered the recipe b.c it called for a lot of cheese and other things like salt and pepper that I didn't put in so I will give you the original one and then tell you what I do- but I eye ball some of it.
This is the original recipe: * 1 pound orecchiette pasta * 1/4 cup plain bread crumbs * 1/4 cup chopped fresh flat-leaf parsley * 2 large eggs, lightly beaten * 1 tablespoon whole milk * 1 tablespoon ketchup * 3/4 cup grated Romano * 3/4 teaspoon salt * 3/4 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper * 1 pound ground chicken * 1/4 cup olive oil * 1 1/2 cups low-sodium chicken stock, hot * 4 cups cherry tomatoes, halved * 1/2 cup freshly grated Parmesan * 8 ounces bocconcini mozzarella, halved * 1/2 cup chopped fresh basil leaves
I take the breadcrumbs - the parsley, 1 egg, ketchup, ground chicken and mix them together. I only put a VERY small amount of parmesan cheese NOT the amount listed above and I don't add salt or pepper.
I also am not a huge fan of sodium and children so I make my own stock without salt - but you can use organic low sodium too and that works.
I mix in a bowl the breadcrumbs, parsley, egg, ketchup (you don't taste it), and chicken and then use a small spoon to make small meatballs.
I brown them in a large pan. Then once they are brown you pour in the chicken stock, and in summer when I can get good tomatoes I use the ones above - in winter I used organic canned diced tomatoes. Then I simply finish cooking them in the broth - I also throw into the broth as they cook (depending on what you put in varies when I add it b.c some veggies take longer than others to cook) - I have added carrots, peas, etc.
Then often I just serve the meatballs with some veggies or you can give pasta whatever you prefer and your DC likes.
They are really easy to make and you can add additional seasoning if you want to - but I started pretty bland for DD. DH actually likes them so we all eat them when I make it. It sounds complicated but it is very easy to make.

Re: Need table food ideas for an almost 11 month old.
At 10 months I give: Yougurt Cottage Cheese Diced Pears (they are a bit softer than apples) Apples Bananas Plums and Peaches
Boars Head OvenGold Turkey and Cheese (no nitrates)
I make a turkey meatloaf.( I first boil whatever veggies I have ..peas, carrots, beans..whatever THen I puree them) I add the purred veggies.. some spices from the cabinet.. whatever I feel like that day and breadcrumbs. (enough to make it more solid). I make a big meatloaf and when it's done I slice it into portions and put it in a big ziploc. I freeze it and then I can just take out the amount I need and nuke it that day.
Pasta (with sauce or butter/parm cheese)
Ravoli. He LOVES THIS!
Spaghetti Squash
Yams. I cook one and then scoop it and stick it in the fridge. I use it for lunch each day until its gone.
Butternut Squash. Same as above.
Peas. He loves them. However, not to get gross.. they were coming OUT the same way then went in! So now I just smash them up a bit and he goes to town!
Meatballs
Quinoa is a great grain for them. It's full of protein. You can boil it and add whatever veggies you want to it.
Pancakes/Waffles. DH makes it Sunday and we freeze the leftovers for the week.
Eggs with cheese. This has been tough. He is picky about them. Likes them one day and hates them the next. He likes omlettes too.
Grilled Cheese
Graham Crackers
Cinnamon Toast (for a snack).
He even had some mild fish. Like flounder or cod (fried fish.. just a little.. it still made me nervous)
I also made a homemade mac and cheese. He loved it.
I made a taco mac thing from Rachael Ray. I changed it up a bit but, HE WAS INSANE FOR IT!
