Need sympathy gift ideas
A boy on my son's t-ball team lost his father suddenly last week. Any ideas of something we can do for him and his mom as a team? He is 5 years old.

Re: Need sympathy gift ideas
I would get the boy a picture frame or something - it should be easy with father's day (to find something). The Mom I'd make some food or give some gift cards for local restaurants.
If you google "sympathy gifts for kids" you might find something that works - like a stuffed animal or a night light.

Could you arrange a schedule of individual playdates for the child with each kid from the team? Talk to the child's mom to see what dates would work for them, but I think some normalcy would be nice for the child and the mom. I would get a few local restaurant gcs to help out with food and a teddy bear for the child.

Re: Need sympathy gift ideas
A similar thing happened with a friend of DD"s recently...she is 6. Since it happened a group of us moms have set up play dates with the little girl to give the mom a break...we didn't drop off food immediately as they got a ton of food - its week 3 now since it happened and we are going to drop off food this week.
I also picked up a book called the invisible string for the little girl and some arts and crafts stuff so she can keep busy while the mom grieves Its so awful.
Many prayers to that little boy and his family
